(Japanese: チャンピオン　ワタルにちょうせん！ Challenge the Champion Wataru!) is a tournament held within the wider Pokémon World Tournament competition. It could be downloaded during an event held over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for Japanese games starting on July 14, 2012 and Korean games starting on November 29, 2012.

Description

As its name suggests, this tournament centers around Lance, the current Champion of the Indigo Plateau. Lance is one of the participants in the tournament, and is guaranteed to reach the final match every time the player enters the tournament. The Kanto and Johto Gym Leaders Morty, Whitney, and Erika also participate.

The participants that enter this tournament use three Pokémon in the Single Battle format. One of the three Pokémon is a member of their original party in Generation I games and Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen or Generation II games and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. The other two are Pokémon that are native to Unova.
