Effect
Generation V
When held by a Pokémon, it increases the power of the first Flying-type move used by 50%, and is consumed after use.
Fling will fail if the user is holding a Flying Gem. Acrobatics will be counted as the user not holding an item and thus receive double base power (in addition to the power increase from the Gem) if the user consumes a Flying Gem before executing it.
Generation VI onward
When held by a Pokémon, it increases the power of the first Flying-type move used by 30%, and is consumed after use.
