As part of the Luminous Legends X event, players were given the global challenge to catch a total of 500,000,000 Fairy-type Pokémon, starting from May 1, 2021, at 12:00 a.m. to May 9, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. UTC, with progress being tracked on Twitter. The reward for completing the challenge was a 3× catch XP multiplier, along with the debut of Pancham and the Shiny variant of Galarian Ponyta in level 1 raids, starting from May 11, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to May 17, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time. The challenge was announced to have been accomplished on May 7, 2021.

Luminous Legends Y Global Challenge Rewards

As part of the Luminous Legends Y event, players were given the global challenge to defeat a total of 25,000,000 Team GO Rocket Grunts, starting from May 15, 2021, at 12:00 a.m. to May 23, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. UTC, with progress being tracked on Twitter. The rewards for completing the challenge were a 3× catch XP multiplier, along with Galarian Zigzagoon appearing in level 1 raids with a chance of its Shiny variant being found, starting from May 25, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to May 31, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Another reward existed for those participating in the May 2021 Special Weekend, the bonus being that all participants would gain a 4× XP multiplier as opposed to 2×. The challenge was announced to have been accomplished on May 20, 2021.
