Release information

Original Series and Legendary Collection Series

This card was released as a Trainer card in the Base Set with artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi, first released in the Japanese Expansion Pack. Before the TCG was officially released in North America, prototype Pokémon Leagues were given the Trainer Deck A, which included this card. The cards in this deck all have a red border and "Trainer Deck A" printed on the back. In Japan, it was reprinted in the Nivi City, Hanada City and Guren Town Gym Decks. It was also included in the Red and Green Decks of the Japanese Quick Starter Gift Set as well as the Bulbasaur and Squirtle Decks of the Japanese Intro Pack. An unnumbered XY-P Promotional print was 1 of 9 cards available in special packs sent to Event Organizers in Japan starting July 2016, which were then distributed to participants of subsequent official events held by them. The cards within the three decks (Charizard, Pikachu, and Mewtwo) had a silhouette of the Pokémon in the bottom right of the card, with the Charizard and Pikachu Deck cards also having numbers so they could be ordered for a practice duel.
