Queengar is the name of the deck used by Jason Martinez, the Junior Division Finalist in the 2009 World Championships. It is primarily a Psychic-type deck, while still using a limited number of Fighting-type Pokémon. The deck placed well at many large tournaments and was thought to be one of the only competitive evolution-based decks in a format filled with Pokémon SP. The deck's name is derived from the combination of Nidoqueen and Gengar, on which the deck's strategy is based. However, the archetype is more commonly known as Mother Gengar.
Queengar is one of the four 2009 World Championships Decks, released on October 28, 2009. Each deck comes packaged with a 2009 World Championships Booklet. Each card features a silver border, Martinez's signature, and limited edition 2009 World Championships back. None of the cards are tournament legal.
