Racing
There are several racing competitions in the Pokémon world.
In the core series games
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver
In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, the Hurdle Dash and Relay Run events from the Pokéathlon involve Pokémon racing against each other.
In the side series games
Pokémon Stadium
In Pokémon Stadium, the "Run, Rattata, Run" minigame is a race between four Rattata on treadmills.
Pokémon Stadium 2
In Pokémon Stadium 2, the "Rampage Rollout" minigame is a race between four Donphan who run laps around the track.
In the spin-off games
Pokémon Dash
Pokémon Dash is a racing game where the player controls Pikachu.
Pokémon Race mini
Pokémon Race mini is a racing game where the player controls Pikachu.
Pokémon Party mini
In Pokémon Party mini, the Pikachu's Rocket Start minigame involves the player (a Pikachu) running in one-on-one races against a Rattata, an Eevee, and another Pikachu. The player wins by simply pressing the button once exactly at the right time when Elekid gives the signal.
In Pokémon Channel, Pikachu's Rocket Start is one of the available minigames as well.
Pokémon Team Turbo
Pokémon Team Turbo is a racing game with 20 racers available: Bulbasaur, Venusaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Squirtle, Blastoise, Pikachu, Treecko, Torchic, Blaziken, Mudkip, Skitty, Plusle, Spheal, Metagross, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Deoxys, and Munchlax.
e-Reader games
The e-Reader game GO, Poliwrath! is a swimming race game.
In the anime
Main series
Original series
- In The Flame Pokémon-athon!, Ash entered the Big P Pokémon Race using Lara Laramie's Ponyta, which eventually evolves into Rapidash mid-race. This is a race between Trainers riding Pokémon.
- In Navel Maneuvers, Ash challenged Danny, the Gym Leader of Navel Gym. This challenge involved a bobsled race.
- In The Big Balloon Blow-Up, Ash, Brock, and Misty participated in the Pokémon Balloon Race. This is a race between Trainers riding in hot-air balloons shaped like various Pokémon.
- In Extreme Pokémon!, Ash participated using his Bayleef in the Extreme Pokémon Race. This is a race between Trainers riding skateboards pulled by their Pokémon.
Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl
- In A Marathon Rivalry!, Ash entered his Pikachu in the Hurdle Dash competition of the Pokéathlon.
Pokémon the Series: XY
- In Giving Chase at the Rhyhorn Race!, Ash participated in the Rhyhorn Race.
- In A Relay in the Sky!, Ash entered with his Fletchinder, Hawlucha and Noibat in the Pokémon Sky Relay. This is a relay race where each Trainer uses three Pokémon that are able to fly or float.
Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon
- In Racing to a Big Event!, Ash and his friends entered the Pokémon Pancake Race. This is a relay race involving Trainers and one of their Pokémon carrying a plate stacked with several Alola pancakes around the border of Melemele Island.
- In Mounting an Electrifying Charge!, Ash, Sophocles, and Kiawe participated in the Charjabug race. It consists of a race using Charjabug placed inside a Charjabug-powered Charjabug Racer. The indoor track traverses several terrains as well as obstacles placed by various Pokémon.
- In A High-Speed Awakening!, Sophocles entered in the Vikavolt race. This is a a race using Vikavolt with VR armor and a camera and their Trainers viewing the Vikavolt's vision via VR goggles.
Pokémon Journeys: The Series
- In The Sinnoh Iceberg Race!, Ash and Goh entered the Pokémon Iceberg Race, using their Pikachu and Mantyke, respectively. This race takes place off the coast of Snowpoint City and consists of Pokémon racing against each other through water.
- In On Land, In the Sea, and to the Future!', Ash, Goh, and Chloe participated in the Marine Athletic Race with their Pokémon. This is a water race with various obstacles.
In the manga
Pokémon Adventures
Red, Green & Blue arc
In Wake Up—You're Snorlax!, Red participated in a cycling competition along Routes 11 and 12, using a Bicycle received in exchange for a Bike Voucher he had gotten from the Pokémon Fan Club Chairman.
HeartGold & SoulSilver arc
In this arc, Gold competed in the Pokéathlon.
