Blurb
After getting into an argument with his friend John, Tommy wants to make amends. He enlists Allister, Galar’s Ghost-type Gym Leader, to help in a most unusual way.
Plot
On a full moon night, Allister sits in a cemetery and contemplates things. Tommy wonders through the rows of gravestones, narrowly missing Allister who crawls away. He turns around and instead gets a fright from some Ghost Pokémon. The trio of Ghosts huddle around Allister and laugh at their trick. As Allister asks if the boy has gone, Tommy appears from behind and startles him. Tommy nervously introduces himself and asks Allister for a ticket to the Champion matches. Allister steps back while his Ghost Pokémon block Tommy from getting any closer. Tommy admits that he thought a Gym Leader like Allister would be able to fulfill his request, to which Allister shakes his head. Tommy pushes his way through the Ghosts, and insists that it is for his sick friend John.
Tommy recalls John dreaming of becoming a Pokémon Trainer, though Tommy reminds his friend that they don't know when they will ever get out of hospital. John remarks that Rose said he could become a good Trainer. Tommy, however, admits the Chairman is still to respond to John's letter. The pair got into a fight over it, and Tommy tells Allister that he was released from hospital before he could apologize to John for the things he said. Tommy hopes that getting John a ticket to Leon's next match could help restore their friendship. Allister steps back when Tommy tries to grab his hand. As Tommy prepares to walk off, Allister suggests that he should see John and apologize in person.
Following on Allister's advice, the pair begin making their way towards the hospital. They climb into a waiting Flying Taxi, startling the Taxi Driver in the process. They soon arrive at the hospital, where Allister proceeds to scare the security guard, stealing his drink and newspaper as well. Inside, John awakens from the moonlight pouring through his wardroom window and turns to see Tommy standing there. Tommy is surprised to see his friend again, and John admits the operation was successful, but he is being kept in hospital for longer to monitor his health. Tommy then apologizes, and says that John has a habit of being fixated on things which means he doesn’t see anything else. However, Tommy commends his friend for his determination and assures John that he will become a great Trainer one day. Tommy declares that they will become the greatest Trainers together, to which John gives an affirming nod. Tommy leaves his friend's bedside before the security guard comes around.
Allister and Tommy spend the rest of the night in the hospital grounds, and watch as the sun rises the next morning. Tommy thanks Allister for his help, and the two shake hands. With their task complete, Tommy and Allister sneak back to the Flying Taxi, again frightening the Taxi Driver. The two boys chuckle when Allister's trio of Ghosts then scare the Taxi Driver.
Meanwhile, Leon makes his way to meet Chairman Rose at Rose Tower, finishing a call with Sonia. The Chairman simply hands Leon the fan letter from John, to which Leon comments on the attached drawing of himself.
