Talk:Haunter (Pokémon)
Killer
I don't think that the statement about the fact that Haunter is the only pokemon that kills. Any pokemon can kill if they wanted to, and Shedinja can steal the soul of anyone that peers into the crack on its back. - unsigned comment from Ditto132 (talk • contribs)
- Yes, I agree. Several Ghost Pokémon have similar statements about stealing your life. And I hardly think Gyarados' famous rampages end with zero casualties. --DarkfireTaimatsu 21:08, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
You can live without a soul, just look at Sabrinia. But Haunter causes tingling UNTILL death. Not death. The games say it steals your life away. Um hello a little cruel to the pokemon dont you think? Well there are usally warning about Gyarados and it's rampages. - unsigned comment from Machamp ion (talk • contribs)
In the anime, Haunter is nothing like the description here. Haunter likes to scare people and make funny faces to make them laugh. Things like licking off his own eyes and making them bounce on his tongue. He did pull Ash and Pikachu's souls out of their bodies, but that was just to play with them, and they went back afterwards. Gaspar?
I've seen a lot of Haunter on GTS nicknamed Gaspar. Would anyone happen to know anything about this? --Lime 00:35, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
It may just be a popular nickname or might translate into a word or phrase that says something about the pokemon or trainer.--Machamp ion 22:17, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Actually the reason is because there is a Haunter you can receive in an in-game trade that has the nickname Gaspar --Wynautluvr 18:45, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hence why many of them have Everstones, too. Tina δ♫ 18:50, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- I don't get why anyone would wanna get rid of them. It's a free ID number for the Jubilife Lottery. Free PP Ups! TTEchidnaGSDS! 00:15, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- Probably because they piss them off. I'm sure most people only went through with the trade because they thought that it would evolve into a Gengar when all was said and done.--Dual 22:29, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, that trade is probably THE biggest rip-off in the whole game series (not just the main ones, either!). There isn't even anything special about Gaspar; at least the other traded Pokémon have a good item (or, in the case of ZAPRONG, an awesome moveset). Diachronos 17:00, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

ghost
should we merge the lavender ghost article with gastly and haunter? The lavender ghost is just other ghosts in a different form. and what about mawrowak. (sp?)Whatswithalltheextraspace 17:25, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
No, because the Lavender ghost might not be a Gastly or Haunter! And its nice to see u using ur sig!--KukiTalk 17:27, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
thats not my point. we can at least have the sprite somewere. we did it for kabutops.Whatswithalltheextraspace 22:00, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
NOT BE--KukiTalk 22:02, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- There isn't a problem with it being on the Literal ghost page. It's fine where it is! MoldyOrange 22:11, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Finger numbers
It should be noted on the "trivia" part of this page that Haunter's number of fingers has changed throughout generations, originally having four in Red and Blue, but the oppossing finger being removed on Yellow. On Gold, Silver and Crystal it stayed this way, but on Generation III games it was changed back to four fingers and later on Generation IV to three fingers once more. - unsigned comment from Mismagiushaunter (talk • contribs)

- Wow, what a deeply argumented answer, well do as you like, I just try to contribute - unsigned comment from Mismagiushaunter (talk • contribs)
- The thing about sprite trivia is that it's often so debatable. As a rule of thumb, we don't include it. — THE TROM — 02:29, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, I just wanted to know - unsigned comment from Mismagiushaunter (talk • contribs)
Is this trivia notable?
"Though both of its "hands" have been shown to be outlined by red or blue (being normal or shiny respectively), in FireRed and LeafGreen, only one "hand" is outlined, and in HeartGold and SoulSilver, neither "hand" is outlined" and as a note on the above "Haunter's fingers tend to change the number of digits between games, switching back and forth between three and four fingers." I'm guessing judging by the conversation above, that the latter is not notable. I'm not sure about the first, though. So I wanted to ask. Thanks! Crystal Talian 04:48, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Citation Needed
The trivia about Haunter's cries says "citation needed". Wellp, as someone who's actually played Pokémon games, I can confirm that it's true. If you want to hear it for yourself, I've recorded its cry from Gen1 and Gen6, and taken the "generic" cry that everyone uses which I'm assuming comes from Gen3. You can listen to the (astoundingly obvious) difference here. Surely this supports that, indeed, Haunter had a change of cry between Gen1 and Gen3. Me, Hurray! (talk) 20:19, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
