Talk:Status move
Official name: Changing Attacks?
In the lower-right Exchange Service Corner in the Gen IV Battle Frontier, the TM lady categorizes the TMs into Physical Attacks, Special Attacks and Changing Attacks. Wouldn't that mean that these moves are called Changing Attacks (or "Changing Moves") not Status Moves? -- Zedd 14:07, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
refer to curse...
It says in the article '???-type Curse'. Should we add the mouseover thing that says 'Normal in Gen V'? Origami is math for the hands. -Martin Grant, MathPath 22:39, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- It should say Ghost-type and have the mouseover thing saying it was ???-type prior to Generation V. Pikiwyn talk 22:41, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
Type
How does type effectiveness work with status moves (as in immune or not)? Confuse Ray works on Normal types, Psych Up works on Ghost types, Leech Seed does not work on Grass types, Thunder Wave does not work on Ground types, and Toxic does not work on Steel types. Is that because <move> is a <type>-type status move (in that case we should make a brand new table), or does it vary based on the move itself? ~Enervation 16:32, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Move lists
For this page, would it be better to import move lists from the type pages, or create all new templates that are basically the same, except instead of "category", you got "type"? Tacopill (talk) 20:53, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
- It would be necessary to list type too, but it may be possible to just modify the existing template to accommodate it. --SnorlaxMonster 01:53, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Status move list should go together
Since the status moves of each type are separated, can anyone put the status moves in together with their type in alphabetical order with moves in alphabetical order. Cinday123 (Talk) 04:06, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
Generation 1
In Generation 1, there is always a chance that a status move will fail. What is that chance? MeNowDealWithIt (talk) 18:42, 20 February 2015 (UTC)MeNowDealWithIt
- In Generation I, all moves have a 1/256 chance of missing (except in Stadium) due to an oversight. When a status move misses in Generation I, the message displayed states that it failed. --SnorlaxMonster 18:50, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- In my experience, status moves seem to fail more often than 1/256. Source? MeNowDealWithIt (talk) 22:32, 20 February 2015 (UTC)MeNowDealWithIt
- It's difficult to provide a specific source, but it's a well-known phenomenon in the Generation I games for moves with 100% accuracy (see Accuracy#1/256 miss glitch for more details). For moves with less than 100% accuracy (which many status moves have), obviously you're going to see them miss more often, which the game displays as failing. --SnorlaxMonster 17:00, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Expression error
Because of how the PP of Max Guard varies based upon which move it transforms, the move can't be added to the page without this error. AgentParadox (talk) 06:21, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
Generation II
It seems that status moves in gen 2 have a chance to miss (the game stated that the move failed or didn't affect the opponent), even with moves that have a 100% accuracy like Sand Attack. Reasons? MageMagius (talk) 14:28, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
