Signature move

Today (09-04-2020) it was revealed Zarude has a signature move called Jungle Healing which it learns at level 90. It restores HP to both Zarude and any ally Pokémon and also removes status conditions.

Tweet confirmation

This tweet introduces Zarude, should it be listed as a confirmation source? https://twitter.com/Pokemon/status/1233041088669274112 Pallukun (talk) 16:08, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Name origin

“The "Za" in its name may also be similar to the "Za" in Zacian and Zamazenta, meaning "the", so that its name means "the rude".” This line sounds very speculative to me. We’ve seen nothing that relates Zarude to Zacian or Zamazenta. --celadonk (talk) 20:09, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

I think so too (I'm not an etymology expert but I remember a character from a different game called "Zamorak", associated with war; of course that could be coincidental but raising it here in case there could be a possible rooting from "war" here). There is also https://ejje.weblio.jp/content/%E3%83%AB%E3%83%89 ; Rudo is of course a name (like Rudo the clown from Wario Land 3), but it's not necessarily inspired by Rudo either. Origin

I doubt it's based on this simply because of how obscure it is, but could it be inspired by the agropelter? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AgropelterTko1153 (talk) 05:55, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

Cool find! Unlikely, but if some kind of Phione-esque prevolution is revealed tomorrow, it might be worth a second look. SJ (talk) 08:51, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

Heya! Zoologist focused on studying primates, here!

I used to flounder on if Zarude was based on an intensely-realistic black lemur or a heavily-stylized baboon, but after watching M23 I am thoroughly convinced it cannot be based on anything other than a Black Lemur. The fact they repetitively depicted it with a toothcomb structure is an extremely telling sign and that, coupled with the fact the other lemur Pokemon (Passimian) is an almost freakishly-realistic Black-and-White Ruffed Lemur with a hat! Black Panther

It may be a stretch but is it possible that Zarude, with its dark coloration, claws, sharp teeth, and long tail, might have taken inspiration from a black panther?Robbie (talk) 22:21, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

Those are just extremely vague characteristics, those aren't exclusive to black panthers. That, and Zarude is very clearly not a panther.--ForceFire 04:40, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

Silhouette glitch

"Zarude was first revealed as a silhouette in the February 2020 issue of CoroCoro and later by The Pokémon Company International on February 15, 2020." The silhouette is on a transparent background. Are there any silhoettes on while backgrounds? Iluvchess (talk) 21:40, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you're asking... you can put the image on a white background, if you'd like. Don't know what makes this a "glitch". --celadonk (talk) 23:32, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

Isle of Armor Datamined information on Zarude

So we know know of what what Stats and Moves Zarude can learn and base stats thanks to serebii. So does this mean we can add it in like the case with other Mythical Pokemon that have been datelined before like Zeraora for exmaple?--Jacob9594 (talk) 16:31, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

There is an error in the biology information.

So I was reading the biology and it said Zarude could speak the human language. In the anime Zarude can't understand the human language, only the language of pokemon, and I assume not all pokemon since "Dada" couldn't understand a few of them. The movie we were able to understand what they were saying not because they were speaking the human language, but because we were listening to Zarude language and it wouldn't make sense to not understand them when knowing what they were saying was important. There was proof of this when you watch Ash and Koko speak to each other when they first met, Koko was speaking in Zarude. "Dada" and Koko couldn't really understand properly what Ash was saying either, of course Koko learned eventually a couple of words but not many. They both relied on Pikachu's translations. Still learning how this wiki works, so I won't be trying to edit the change. Anyone who knows the stuff could you possibly look over the biology part? GothicBlob (talk) 10:30, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
