Chic (Japanese: ちゃも Chamo), known as Toro in Chuang Yi's translations, is a Blaziken that Sapphire owns in Pokémon Adventures and one of her first Pokémon. Chic was given to Sapphire by her father, Professor Birch. As of It All Ends Now VII, she is at level 59, and her Characteristic is that she is "thoroughly cunning."

History

Ruby & Sapphire arc

Chic battling Team Aqua

Prior to the start of her journey, Sapphire received Chic as a Torchic from her father Professor Birch. Chic first appeared at the end of Making Mirth with Mightyena, resting atop Sapphire's head. It was soon revealed that the two rescued Ruby from a pack of wild Mightyena and took him to Sapphire's Secret Base. Upon waking up, the beauty-obsessed boy thought she was a Pokémon, and attacked after she started talking. Despite her type disadvantage against his newly received Mudkip, she was able to defeat him, and then fought a wild Seviper, though she failed to finish it off.

In Lombre Larceny, Chic battled Team Aqua, as they had trapped a Castform in a fountain. Both Chic and Rono defeated Team Aqua's Sharpedo and Carvanha, but they took damage from their Rough Skin Ability. Due to the injury, Rono was unable to take out Shelly's Ludicolo, but Chic was able to defeat it with help from Castform.

In Mashing Makuhita, Sapphire trains Chic and Rono at Granite Cave in order to prepare for her Gym battle against Brawly. After training for most of the day the two evolve into Combusken and Lairon. Sapphire then goes to Brawly and begins their battle. Chic first battles against his Machop. Due to her increased speed and power, she easily overpowered Machop, forcing Brawly to switch it in. Chic was later sent out against his Makuhita. Due to its Thick Fat Ability and Jū fighting style, Chic got overwhelmed and slammed into a wall, getting her claw stuck in the process. Makuhita then evolves into Hariyama and moves in to finish Chic off with Counter. Although it looks like Chic lost, Hariyama soon fainted, as Chic attacked twice thanks to Double Kick.

In Adding It Up with Plusle & Minun II, Chic was used alongside Rono to battle Courtney and her Ninetales. The two were quickly defeated.

Chic battling Winona's Altaria

In Bubble Bubble Toil and Azumarill I, Chic battled Matt and his Azumarill. Chic was quickly overwhelmed and pushed back by the Aqua Rabbit Pokémon's water attacks.

In Mixing It Up with Magcargo, Chic battled Team Aqua. Sapphire has Chic and Troppy launch a barrage of attacks that continue to get countered, no matter how hard they try. Sapphire, suddenly realizing something, has Chic and Troppy hold their fire. Approaching the "enemy," Sapphire discovers that a circular Mirror Coat has been set up around them, reflecting all their attacks back upon themselves and that Team Aqua had left long ago.

In I Dare Ya, Altaria... Knock Chic off My Shoulder!, Chic battled Winona and her Altaria. The two begin by exchanging a few blows, and Chic hides in the trees to get above Altaria. Chic soon jumps out and uses Double Team to confuse Altaria, followed up by slamming Altaria down to the ground, causing her to evolve into Blaziken. With her new form, Sapphire assumes that Blaze Kick will be powerful enough to win and has Chic score a direct hit. Winona takes advantage of their cocky attitude and has Altaria heal its burn with Refresh before defeating Chic with a powered-up Sky Attack from Dragon Dance.

Chic battling Archie and Maxie

In The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon X, Chic, alongside Ruby and Sapphire's other Pokémon, battled Archie and Maxie. She and Mumu attempted to deliver a decisive blow but failed to do any real damage. In The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon XIV, Chic and Mumu attack the meteor fragment coming from Archie and Maxie, which sends a powerful blast of energy out. The energy hits Maxie and Archie's foreheads, turning them back to normal and stopping the power of the Red and Blue Orbs.

In It All Ends Now VIII, Chic battled alongside the rest of Sapphire and Ruby's Pokémon against Maxie and Archie.

Emerald arc

Chic training to learn Blast Burn

In Cunning Kirlia, Chic advanced Sapphire through the Battle Dome.

In Facing Gulpin Is Hard to Swallow, Chic helped Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, and Noland advance through the Battle Tower to reach Guile Hideout.

In The Final Battle III, Chic is taught the ultimate move Blast Burn. She was soon used alongside Blue's Charizard and Gold's Typhlosion, Exbo, to attack with Blast Burn to help destroy Guile Hideout's fake Kyogre.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc

In Salamence Evolves, Chic, alongside Mumu and Emerald's Sceptile, trained under Ultima in order to fully master the ultimate moves. The training was issued by Steven and Mr. Stone as part of a plan dedicated to preventing a giant meteoroid from crashing into the planet. With a set of Mega Bracelets and Mega Stones obtained from Steven, Chic gained the ability to use Mega Evolution. After a day of training, Chic fully mastered Blast Burn and attained her Mega-Evolved state.

With the training over, Mr. Stone had everyone taken to the Sea Mauville for the next stage of the plan. There, Chic and Sceptile were put on a set of machines known as the Absorber and ordered to coat themselves in the power generated by the ultimate moves. Once ready, Mr. Stone and Steven activated the Absorbers, which proceeded to drain the life energy of Chic and Sceptile painfully. The energy was converted into Infinity Energy and used to power a device called the dimensional shifter capable of warping the meteoroid to another location.

Personality and characteristics

Chic's Blazikenite
Chic and Sapphire

As a Torchic, Chic was rash and often acted first before assessing the situation. After evolving, Chic became more reasonable and soft-spoken, and was shown getting along with others much easier. She is a very strong Pokémon and is the powerhouse of Sapphire's team. She is also very strong-willed and doesn't back down from any challenge, no matter how difficult.
