Virbank City in the
anime
Virbank City debuted in An Epic Defense Force!, when Ash and his friends arrived at the city port. Like in the games, the city has an existing movie studio and a recently built amusement park. The group met Luke again as he was visiting the city to participate in the Pokéstar Studios Film Competition. After being persuaded by Cilan, the group decided to help Luke in the making of his film, which won Best Picture.
In Rocking the Virbank Gym! Part 1 and Part 2, Ash and his friends went to the Virbank Gym. There, he battled Roxie for his eighth Unova League Gym Badge, and ultimately won it. Roxie also fronts Unova's top punk rock band "Koffing and the Toxics", so fans flock to the Virbank Gym to watch them perform during Roxie's Gym matches.
In All for the Love of Meloetta!, Ash and his friends, having learned that the Vertress Conference would begin in three months, decided to go eat Virbank City's famous "Bearticone" at Cilan's suggestion. Arriving at the ice cream stand, they met up with the Sinnoh League Champion, Cynthia. Cynthia then invited them to go to East Unova with her for the upcoming Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup.
