Route 39 (Japanese: 39ばんどうろ Route 39) is a route in western Johto connecting Route 38 and Olivine City. Moomoo Farm is located on the northern half of the route.
Route description
Route 39 is almost perfectly straight and has no major obstacles. There is only one patch of grass that contains wild Pokémon, and this area is located off the beaten path.
Along Route 39, there are four Trainers: one near the entrance to Moomoo Farm and three near the southern end of the route. In Pokémon Gold and Silver, the player can register the phone number of one of these three Trainers, Pokéfan Derek, into the Pokégear for subsequent battles, as well as the occasional Nugget if the player has a Pikachu in the party when battling him.
All of the items on Route 39 are concentrated near Moomoo Farm. Outside of the farm, a Berry tree contains a Mint Berry. Inside of the farm, the player can purchase Moomoo Milk and obtain TM13 (Snore)GSC/TM83 (Natural Gift)HGSS upon restoring the farm's Miltank to full health by feeding it a large number of Berries.
In HeartGold and SoulSilver, this is where players will first meet Baoba and exchange phone numbers with him.

Pokémon Adventures
Route 39 first appeared in Jumping Jumpluff, where Crystal was seen searching the route for Suicune. While doing so, she encountered Eusine, who was also looking for Suicune.
In Miltank Melee, Eusine healed a sick Miltank at the Moomoo Farm, although he did so by playing a trick and pretending to pull a card out of its mouth while secretly feeding it a Berry to heal it. As a sign of gratitude, the couple running the farm gave him some Moomoo Milk, but he accidentally dropped all the milk bottles when Crystal suddenly confronted him and called him a cheat.
In Indubitably Ditto, Crystal and Eusine were attacked by a Ditto sent by Team Rocket to eliminate them, but they were able to escape from its grasp.
In All About Arceus III, Silver and his Weavile were seen discovering a Plate at the Moomoo Farm meadow.
Trivia
- The music from this route was remixed and included in the coding of Ruby and Sapphire, but is not found during normal game play.
- In Pokémon Crystal, Pokéfan Jaime says she caught her Meowth on this route at night, but wild Meowth cannot be found here.
