Location Location of Ultra Megalopolis in Ultra Space. |
Ultra Megalopolis (Japanese: ウルトラメガロポリス Ultramegalopolis) is a city situated in Ultra Space that can be accessed from Alola through an Ultra Wormhole.
The world had all of its light stolen by Necrozma. In the center of the city is Megalo Tower, a building that provides artificial light to replace the light Necrozma had taken previously and to act as a prison to keep it from escaping to other worlds.
It is the home of the Ultra Recon Squad. The Ultra Beast Poipole and its evolved form Naganadel originate from the dimension in which the city is located; they are stated to not only be numerous in population, but also popular enough to be trained as first partner Pokémon for its residents.
Demographic
The people of this world have pale, gray-blue skin due to the lack of natural light in the world after Necrozma stole all of it. The Ultra Recon Squad wear futuristic suits that allow them to travel through Ultra Space. While other people do exist in this world, they are not encountered in-game, merely referenced inside buildings either hiding from Necrozma after it is broken free from captivity or cheering in celebration after it is defeated by the player.

Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon arc
Ultra Megalopolis first appeared in Meeting the Ultra Recon Squad. Zossie, Sun, and Moon arrived there after using Ultra Warp Ride with Lunala to traverse through Ultra Space. Shortly after arriving, a Stakataka appeared to battle with Necrozma, forcing Sun and Moon to battle with it. After they had managed to subdue it, Necrozma appeared from Megalo Tower, having reacted to Lunala's presence. Shortly afterwards, Lusamine arrived there as well, accompanied by a small army of Aether Foundation Employees. After fusing herself with a Nihilego, she started attempting to capture Necrozma for herself with a large supply of Beast Balls. During the capture operation, Sun used one of the Beast Balls that Lusamine had dropped to capture Stakataka, adding it to his party with the nickname "Drachma". Eventually Sun, Moon, and Lusamine were sucked back to Alola through an Ultra Wormhole.
