Route 32, unlike the route before it, is a long, trainer-heavy route leading directly south from Violet City and ending at the mouth of Union Cave. Much like Route 3 in Kanto, Route 32 ends with a Pokémon Center near the cave.

Route 32 (Japanese: 32ばんどうろ Route 32) is a route in central Johto connecting Violet City and Union Cave. The eastern entrance to the Ruins of Alph lies at the route's northern end.

The fourth route that trainers from New Bark encounter, Route 32 is the first in Johto to see the player's destination to the south– and a far-off one at that. After exiting Violet City through a small path with a Przcureberry in a clearing, the player comes to a three-way intersection. Either they can head back up north, to Violet City, if they have some business to finish there, west, into the Ruins of Alph, to discover the secrets there, or continue south along the route. After moving south around the large rock, players will find a Cuttable tree on its western side, the path behind which leads them to a man who will give them 05.
The fourth route that Trainers from New Bark Town encounter, Route 32 is the first in Johto to see the player's destination to the south – and a far-off one at that. After exiting Violet City through a small path with a PRZCureBerry (a Ylw Apricorn in Generation IV) in a clearing, the player comes to a three-way intersection. Either they can head back up north, to Violet City, if they have some business to finish there, west, into the Ruins of Alph, to discover the secrets there, or continue south along the route. The player cannot continue south of the intersection until they have obtained the Egg from Professor Elm's aide in Violet City. After moving south around the large rock, players will find a cut-able tree on its western side, the path behind which leads them to a man who will give them 05.

From there, the player should head south, going east or west around the next rock (leading them through long grass or near a Trainer, respectively). A small bit further south, the route opens up, and players can go along the western side of a small inlet of ocean, facing wild Pokémon and trainers, or cross this on the pier, and come upon three Fishermen. A little southwest of the pier is a patch of grass, where a Great Ball can be found.
From there, the player should head south, going east or west around the next rock (leading them through tall grass or near a Trainer, respectively). A small bit further south, the route opens up, and players can go along the western side of a small inlet of ocean, facing wild Pokémon and Trainers, or cross this on the pier, and come upon three Fishermen. A little southwest of the pier is a patch of grass, where a Great Ball can be found.

At this point, players should reach the Pokémon Center, where they can heal their Pokémon from the long journey just in time to enter Union Cave. A man inside the Pokémon Center will also give players an Old Rod. Just to the north of the Center, on Fridays, Frieda will appear to give the player a Poison Barb, which enhances the power of Poison moves. On days other than Friday, a Great Ball can be found where Frieda usually stands.
At this point, players should reach the Pokémon Center, where they can heal their Pokémon from the long journey just in time to enter Union Cave. A man inside the Pokémon Center will also give players an Old Rod. In Generation IV, there is a fan of Kurt located in the Pokémon Center that will give away two Lure Balls to anyone. Just to the north of the Center, on Fridays, Frieda will appear to give the player a Poison Barb the first time she's encountered, and a List of Ribbons in the games all other times (Generation IV only). On days other than Friday, a Great Ball can be found where Frieda usually stands.

Walking straight south from the Center's entrance, another trainer will be encountered– the last on the route. Directly west of him is the entrance to Union Cave, the first mandatory dungeon-like area of Johto.

In , the track for the Magnet Train can be seen near the sea.

As Gold hitting Granbull in the jaw with a Poké Ball to expose it had fixed its problem, it happily returned all the Poké Balls it had taken, including one containing Gold's lost Poliwag. Soon afterwards, Gold met one of Professor Elm's assistants, who entrusted him with a Pokémon Egg.

Route 32 (Japanese: 32ばんどうろ Route 32) is a route in central Johto connecting Violet City and Union Cave. The eastern entrance to the Ruins of Alph lies at the route's northern end.

Route description

After moving south around the large rock, players will find a cut-able tree on its western side, the path behind which leads them to a man who will give them TM05 (Roar).

In Generation IV, there is a fan of Kurt located in the Pokémon Center that will give away two Lure Balls to anyone. Just to the north of the Center, on Fridays, Frieda will appear to give the player a Poison Barb the first time she's encountered, and a Relax Ribbon all other times (Generation IV only). On days other than Friday, a Great Ball can be found where Frieda usually stands.

Walking straight south from the Center's entrance, another Trainer will be encountered – the last on the route. Directly west of him is the entrance to Union Cave, the first mandatory cave of Johto.

In HeartGold and SoulSilver, the track for the Magnet Train can be seen near the sea.

Pokémon Adventures

Gold, Silver & Crystal arc

Route 32 appeared in Teddiursa's Picnic, where Gold arrived there after hearing from Bugsy that Pokémon in the area tended to disappear. After encountering Wilton, Gold found out that the mysterious Pokémon thief was actually a Granbull with a dislocated jaw, who had been stealing people's Poké Balls to catch their attention.

Pokémon Gold & Silver: The Golden Boys

Route 32 appeared in Let's Aim For The Goal!, where Gold was seen traversing through it on his way to Azalea Town. Along the way, Gold's Pikachu was distracted by something and led its Trainer to the Ruins of Alph, where a basketball tournament was in progress.
