Trivia
- Drilbur was revealed on Oha Suta on June 27, 2010.
- Drilbur is the only pure Ground-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
Origin
It is based on a mole. The shape of its arms could come from shovels.
Name origin
Drilbur seems to be a combination of "drill" and "burrow". It may be based on the famous sword Excalibur as its evolved form's name contains "exca". Mogurew is likely a combination of 土竜 mogura, mole, and screw; also, ryu is an alternate reading of 竜, one of the two kanji that form mogura.
