Metal Sound (Japanese: きんぞくおん Metal Sound) is a non-damaging Steel-type move introduced in Generation III. It is TM223 in Generation IX.

Effect

Metal Sound lowers the target's Special Defense stat by two stages.

Metal Sound is a sound-based move.

Metal Sound can be used as the first move of a Pokémon Contest combination, causing Metal Claw to score double the normal appeal if used in the next turn.

If powered up by a Steelium Z into Z-Metal Sound, the user's Special Attack stat rises by one stage. Throat Chop cannot prevent a Pokémon from using Z-Metal Sound.

Generation III to V

Metal Sound cannot affect a Pokémon behind a substitute.

Generation VI onwards

Metal Sound can now hit Pokémon even if they are behind a substitute.
