Mind Reader (Japanese: こころのめ Mind's Eye) is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation II.

Effect

Generations II and III

The next move made by the user of this move against the target will not miss, even if the target uses a move with a semi-invulnerable turn like Fly. If the target switches out, the effect of Mind Reader wears off. This can be Baton Passed.

Mind Reader does not allow the user to bypass protection moves.

Mind Reader's accuracy is 100%.

Mind Reader can also be used as part of a Pokémon Contest combination, causing certain moves (DynamicPunch, Hi Jump Kick, Sheer Cold, Submission and Superpower) to have their base appeal doubled.

Generation IV onwards

Mind Reader now bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the opponent is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.

Mind Reader can also be used as part of a Contest Spectaculars combination, causing an OHKO move to give extra three appeal points if used in the next turn.

If powered up by a Normalium Z into Z-Mind Reader, the user's Special Attack rises by one stage.
