Galvantula (Japanese: デンチュラ Dentula) is a Bug/Electric Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
It evolves from Joltik starting at level 36.
Biology
Physiology
Galvantula are hairy yellow and blue spiders. They appear to have six blue eyes, four of which are small and are located in the middle of their foreheads between two larger eyes which have pupils. They have a jagged purple stripe on their backs; their underside is also purple. Their connecting leg segments, as well as their single-toed feet, are dark blue in coloration. Spiky, hairy blue features fringe their abdomens.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Galvantula are capable of producing thread tinged with electricity, which it uses to capture their prey, both electrocuting and immobilizing the target.
Galvantula are also capable of using the move Spider Web, which was formerly exclusive to the Spinarak evolution line.

Trivia
- No other Pokémon has the same type-combination as Galvantula and its pre-evolution.
- Similarly, no other Pokémon has a base stat total of 472.
- Joltik and Galvantula are the only Pokémon capable of having the Unnerve ability that do not have it as their hidden ability.
Origin
Galvantula is based on a tarantula, or a jumping spider.
Name origin
Galvantula is a portmanteau of the words galvanization and tarantula. Dentula is likely a combination of 電気 denki, electricity, or 電柱 denchū, lightpole, and タランチュラ taranchura, tarantula. May also tie in with chū, an alternate reading of 虫 mushi, meaning bug.
