Trivia
- Karrablast and Shelmet are the only Pokémon that have to be traded for a specific Pokémon to evolve, having to be traded for each other.
- Despite its Pokédex entry stating that it can spew acidic liquid when threatened, Karrablast cannot learn Acid, Acid Spray or any similar move. In fact, the only Poison-type moves it can learn are Toxic and Poison Jab.
Origin
Karrablast and Escavalier seem to be based on Scaphinotus angusticollis, the snail-killer carabid, a beetle that preys on snails by forcing their way inside the shell. The fact that it evolves when traded with Shelmet may be a reference to jousting.
Name origin
Karrablast is most likely a combination of Greek κέρατο kérato, "horn", and plastron, the underside of a shelled creature (what one would likely call its "belly"). It may also be a corruption of the word Carabidae, the family of ground beetles.
