It evolves into Swadloon starting at level 20, which evolves into Leavanny when leveled up with high happiness.

Biology

Physiology

Sewaddle sleeping by covering its head with its hood

Sewaddle is a caterpillar-like Pokémon, with a broad, apparently bitten leaf enfolding its head. Its large, spherical head is a pale shade of tan, with a rounded, vaguely curl-like feature higher up on it. Sewaddle's eyes are dark and circular, with a crescent-shaped, toothed orange snout, and the underside of its face and neck is white. The rest of Sewaddle's body is segmented and green, with three rows of stubby, spherical orange legs.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

This Pokémon produces a thread-like substance from its mouth, which it uses to sew together gnawed up leaves to put together makeshift clothes. This is the reason it is called the "Sewing Pokémon".

Behavior

When sleeping, Sewaddle folds its leaf "hood" over its head.

Diet

In Sewaddle and Burgh in Pinwheel Forest!, Sewaddle is shown to eat leaves and various kinds of berries.

Trivia

  • Sewaddle was first seen after it was leaked on Yahoo's official Pokémon site. It was later released in the September issue of CoroCoro.

Origin

Sewaddle is based on the caterpillar of the Epargyreus clarus, who fold leaves over themselves for shelter and also produce silk.

Name origin

Sewaddle is possibly a combination of sew and waddle referring to how a baby walks or swaddle, meaning to wrap a baby in cloth.
