Trivia
- Joltik is the smallest Pokémon.
- Joltik is the lightest Bug-type Pokémon.
- No other Pokémon has the same type-combination as Joltik and its evolution.
- Joltik and Galvantula are the only Pokémon capable of having the Unnerve ability that do not have it as their Hidden Ability.
- Joltik is the only Pokémon that has a base stat total of 319.
Origin
Its Pokédex entry states that it latches onto to larger Pokémon to drain the static electricity off them, so it may be based on a tick, though its size seems to imply it is based on a mite. Like its evolution, it is also based on a tarantula, or a jumping spider.
Name origin
Joltik may come from jolt and tick. In Russian Жёлтый is yellow, while suffix -ik can indicate both small size and cuteness. Bachuru come from バグ (the English word bug), and チュウ chū, an alternate reading of 虫 mushi, meaning bug.
