Ralts (Japanese: ラルトス Ralts) is a Psychic-type Pokémon.
It evolves into Kirlia starting at level 20, which evolves into Gardevoir starting at level 30 or, if male, Gallade when exposed to a Dawn Stone.
Biology
Physiology
Ralts's eyes seen from below
Ralts has a white body. Its legs give it the appearance of wearing a dress. Ralts has a green "helmet" that has a red horn on the front and one on the back. A Ralts's eyes are normally covered by its "helmet", but a view from the proper angle will reveal a pair of melancholy eyes that look similar to the ones its evolved forms and Roserade have. Despite the fact that Ralts and its evolutions resemble humans, they somehow bear a closer relationship to Ghost-type Pokémon than with other humanoid Pokémon such as Mime Jr.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Ralts can use its horns to sense the emotions of Pokémon and people. The abilities that Ralts has in battle are similar to what most Ghost-type Pokémon would have. Ralts is one of the few Pokémon that can learn Magical Leaf.
Behavior
Ralts is a timid Pokémon that will hide if it senses hostility, but becomes a little braver if it senses happy feelings and optimism from others. If its Trainer is in a cheerful mood, this Pokémon grows cheerful and joyous in the same way. If its horns capture the warm feelings of people or Pokémon, its body warms up slightly.
Habitat
Ralts tend to keep away from humans, considering that they don't usually like being around negative feelings.

In the anime
Major appearances
Ralts debuted in the anime in the episode Do I Hear a Ralts? Max found one that was very sick and decided to prove his abilities by taking responsibility for it. With the help of Ash's Snorunt, he rushed it to the nearest Pokémon Center. He later promised to return for Ralts when he is eligible to be a Trainer.
Minor appearances
A Ralts was living with some party-loving psychic Pokémon in an abandoned mining town in Fear Factor Phony.

In the manga
In the Pokémon Adventures manga
Ruby owned a Ralts nicknamed Ruru. However, for most of the Ruby & Sapphire arc Ruru is with Wally after Ruby was lost in an earthquake that left him under Briney's care (where he learned of the beautiful Milotic that Mimi eventually evolved into). While training with Wally under Norman's command, Ruru evolves into a Kirlia and is eventually returned to Ruby.

Trivia
- Ralts's number in the Sinnoh Pokédex (Platinum only) and the Almia Browser are the same: 157.
- Ralts's evolution family is one of only three evolution families to have a branch evolution in the second evolutionary event, and the only one whose base level was not introduced in Generation I.
- Ralts's Pokémon Trozei! sprite is the only one where its eyes are visible. In Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, one can see them if one were to view Ralts from below in the Trainer memo; however, it is not a sprite.
- Although being able to learn Will-O-Wisp by breeding, Ralts was not compatible with the TM that teaches the same move in Generation IV. In Generation V, the situation is reversed, it is now compatible with the TM, but Will-O-Wisp is no longer listed among its Egg Moves (although Ralts will still carry Will-O-Wisp upon hatching if the male parent knows the move, due to it being passed down as with any other machine move would).
- Ralts is the only Pokémon that has 198 as its base stat total.
- With this total, this also makes Ralts the weakest Psychic-type Pokémon.
- Despite the fact that Wally caught his Ralts on Route 102 at level 5 in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, it is impossible for the player to catch a level 5 Ralts in the entire game, beside by breeding one.
- This may have been done so Wally could have a "starter" Pokémon at the same level as the player's.
Origin
Ralts's appearance seems to be based slightly on that of a young child, following the theory that young children can sense feelings easier and more thoroughly than adults. Its red "horns" also resemble the tips of a heart shape.
Name origin
Ralts may be a partial anagram of astral (as in astral body); its other language names seem to follow this. It may also involve relate, referring to the way Ralts will only relate to kind Trainers. It may also be a play on waltz (a type of dance); Ralts' evolutionary family appears to have several similarities to dancers.
