Latias (Japanese: ラティアス Latias) is a Dragon/Psychic-type Pokémon.
Latias does not evolve into anything nor from anything.
Latias' signature move is Mist Ball.
Biology
Physiology
Gender differences
Latias is a female-only species. For its male counterpart, see Latios.
Special abilities
Latias comes with the ability Levitate, which causes Ground-type moves to miss. Latias can enfold its body with glass-like down to refract light and alter its appearance. It is highly intelligent and can understand human speech. It can telepathically communicate with others.
Behavior
Latias will form small herds of several members. They will rarely make contact with people or other Pokémon. If it senses hostility towards it, Latias will ruffle the feathers all over its body and cry shrilly to intimidate its foe. However, it will usually disappear if it senses an enemy.
Habitat
Latias rarely shows itself to humans, so its location is often found in isolated areas, or in secret havens.
Diet
Main article: Pokémon food
In the anime
Latias has had only made one appearance in the anime so far, in the fifth movie, Pokémon Heroes. Latias and her brother, Latios were the targets of Annie and Oakley. Latias assissted Ash in the mission to save Latios.
In the manga
Latias, along with Latios, was befriended by Emerald and took the young Trainer to the Battle Frontier. She has appeared in human form a few times as the saga continues.
In the TCG
In the TCG, she appears in Ex Holon Phantoms, Ex Delta Species, Ex Dragon Frontiers, Ex Deoxys, and Ex Dragon.

Trivia
Latias is the first female legendary.
Origin
Latias is based on a dragon, although it and Latios may also draw inspiration from the philosophy of Yin/Yang and psychology of id/ego.
Name origin
It is possible that Latias's name is based on the Latin word lateo, hidden. The -as suffix in its name indicates that it is female, while the -os in Latios indicates that it is male.
