Anorith (Japanese: アノプス Anopth) is a dual-type Rock/Bug Fossil Pokémon.
It is resurrected from a Claw Fossil and evolves into Armaldo starting at level 40.
Biology
Physiology
Anorith is an aquatic, arthropod-like, greenish-gray Pokémon that uses the eight flexible, white-and-red appendages on both sides of its body to propel itself through the water. Its large head has two large, beady eyes extending from the side, and in the middle of the head is a round black pattern with two red spots. Two large, segmented claws protrude from below its head, serving as either defense against predators or a weapon against prey. These claws seem to have become the Fossil that Anorith can be resurrected from. Anorith’s carapace is gray, and its tail is small with two gray spikes. Its mouth is on the underside of its body, and resembles a screw in shape.
Gender differences
No gender differences.
Special abilities
It swims by undulating the eight "wings" at its sides. It uses its two well-developed claws to capture prey.
Behavior
Anorith hunt for prey on the sea floor and grip their prey in their sharp claws.
Habitat
The exact habitat of Anorith is unknown, but so far Claw Fossils are only found in the Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova regions. Since it is a Fossil Pokémon that no longer can be found in the wild, they must be resurrected from a Claw Fossil.

Major appearances
Its first appearance was on a small island to the east of Hoenn's mainland in Where's Armaldo? where it was being studied with the other Fossil Pokémon from Hoenn.
Minor appearances
An Anorith appeared in the opening of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.
More Anorith were resurrected and studied by the scientists in Oreburgh City in Wild in the Streets.

Trivia
- Anorith and its evolution, Armaldo, are the only Bug-type Pokémon with genders that are not in the Bug Egg Group.
- Anorith and its evolved form's type combination is unique.
- While there are other Bug/Rock types, Anorith's evolutionary family is the only one with Rock as the primary type and Bug as the secondary type.
- In Pokémon Conquest, all of Anorith's perfect links have names that start with "Uji-".
Origin
Anorith appears to be closely based on an Anomalocaris. It also appears to be somewhat based on a trilobite. It greatly resembles seamonkeys as well, having similar eyes and feather-like protrusions on its sides.
Name origin
Anorith may be a combination of Anomalocaris and lith (rock or stone). It may also derive from ancestral or anorthosite.
Anopth may be a combination of Anomalocaris and arthropod.
