Neutralizing Gas (Japanese: かがくへんかガス Chemical Change Gas) is an Ability introduced in Generation VIII. It is the signature Ability of Koffing's evolutionary lines.

Effect

In battle

Reason: How does it affect other Abilities that cannot be suppressed?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

Neutralizing Gas suppresses the effects of Abilities of other Pokémon currently in battle. When a Neutralizing Gas user switches in, the Ability displays a message. If there are entry hazards, then they activate after the message.

Once Neutralizing Gas is no longer applying, Abilities that activate when gained (i.e. Abilities that activate when a Pokémon is switched in, such as Intimidate, except Imposter) immediately activate regardless of whether they have already activated (except Unnerve, which applies without displaying a message). If Neutralizing Gas stops applying because the Pokémon with Neutralizing Gas would switch out, those Abilities activate before the switch occurs (e.g. if Intimidate is activated this way, it will decrease the Attack of the Pokémon with Neutralizing Gas before it switches out).

Neutralizing Gas cannot suppress itself, Multitype, Stance Change, Schooling, Comatose, Shields Down, Disguise, RKS System, Battle Bond, or Power Construct.

Neutralizing Gas cannot be copied by Trace or Role Play. Neutralizing Gas cannot be swapped by Skill Swap or Wandering Spirit. Entrainment fails if the user has Neutralizing Gas, but can succeed even if the target has Neutralizing Gas. However, Neutralizing Gas can be replaced (e.g. by Worry Seed) or suppressed (e.g. by Gastro Acid) like any other Ability, except that it cannot be suppressed by Neutralizing Gas.

Outside of battle

Neutralizing Gas has no effect outside of battle.
