Thick Fat (Japanese: あついしぼう Thick Fat) is an Ability introduced in Generation III.
Effect
In battle
If a Pokémon with Thick Fat is attacked by an Ice- or Fire-type move, the opponent's Attack or Special Attack is reduced by 50% during damage calculation, effectively halving the damage the Pokémon takes.
Outside of battle
Thick Fat has no effect outside of battle.
Pokémon with Thick Fat
In other games
In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, and the Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare) games, Thick Fat reduces the damage taken from Fire- and Ice-type moves by 50%.
In Gates to Infinity and Super Mystery Dungeon, Thick Fat reduces the damage from Fire- and Ice-type moves by 30%.
In Pokémon UNITE, Thick Fat is Mamoswine's Ability. When the user deals damage, its Defense and Special Defense are increased for a short time, up to three times. When this Pokémon uses Ice Shard, Icicle Crash or Ice Fang, its next basic attack becomes a boosted attack. In addition, if any of these moves creates a freezing area of effect inside an ally goal zone, it decreases the goal-scoring speed of opposing Pokémon inside that goal zone.
