When released from a Pokéball, Goldeen will use Splash... so it isn't really a threat.

Goldeen is also a Pokéfloat. It will appear from the bottom of the screen but quickly drop down to the bottom again, therefore producing a KO for anyone who lands on it.

Goldeen loves swimming wild and free in rivers and ponds. If one of these Pokémon is placed in an aquarium, it will shatter even the thickest glass with one ram of its horn and make its escape.

In the springtime, schools of Goldeen can be seen swimming up falls and rivers. It metes out staggering damage with its single horn.

Goldeen's name may be a combination of goldfish and queen. Its Japanese name stems from とさきん tosakin, a kind of goldfish.
