• The English dub is based on the phrases "pros and cons" and "con artists"
• The gold and silver-colored Pokéblocks are references to the Pokémon Gold and Silver games.
• This was the most recent episode until Dressed for Jess Success! where James crossdressed, a span of over six years.
• This is one of the few times where James's cacnea doesn't hug him upon coming out of its pokeball.

Errors

• In the English dub, Drew stated "In a Pokémon Contest, you have to be on the same wavelength as your Pokémon..." In May's flashback of what Drew said, it was instead, "In battles, you have to be on the same wavelength as your Pokémon..."
• Taillow avoids Roselia's Magical Leaf despite the move having zero chances of missing.
