Ember does damage and has a 10% chance of burning the target. Ember cannot burn a target that has a Substitute or already has a major status ailment.

Trivia

• The Bagon evolutionary line are the only Pokémon that cannot get STAB on Ember.
• This move is incorrectly called Sorpresa in the Latin American dub of the anime. This name is shared with the European Spanish one for a totally different move, Fake out, which can be confusing for people playing the European Spanish games but watching the Latin American anime.
