Loudred (Japanese: ドゴーム Dogohmb) is a Normal-type Pokémon.

It evolves from Whismur starting at level 20 and evolves into Exploud starting at level 40.

Biology

Physiology

Loudred are medium-sized blue creatures that are somewhat "boxy" in shape. They have a huge mouth with yellow lips and peg like teeth on each corner. As the mouth is often open, their large tongue and throat are visible. In the rare times its mouth is seen closed, its top teeth may or may not show. Loudred has a stubby nose above its prominent mouth. They also have two circular ears on the ends of short stalks, the ear insides ringed with black and purple and the backs of the ears ringed with black. Loudred has arms with three fingers and short legs, with two peg-like toes and a yellow circle on the foot’s underside. Loudred’s back has a yellow pattern that resembles sound waves.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Much like the rest of the family, it is capable of ear-splitting noise. It uses its round ears as loudspeakers, and builds power by stomping the ground. After it's finished shouting, it becomes temporarily deaf.

Behavior

Unlike Whismur, Loudred tend to be very loud and very active. They also tend to be very irritable and are quick to anger at times. In battle, it tends to punish its foes by screaming at them.

Habitat

Loudred like tall grass, but they usually prefer caves.

Major appearances

Loudred first appeared during the "Dewford Island" series arc (from A Hole Lotta Trouble to Just One of the Geysers).

Loudred also kept showing up in Gotta Dance!! whenever the Poké-Baton was activated along with Ludicolo. Unlike Ludicolo, who seemingly disappeared into thin air every time the Poké-Baton was deactivated, Loudred would stare blankly for a brief time before finally leaving. When the Poké-Baton finally shorted out, Loudred went completely mad.

Loudred also appeared under the ownership of Guy in Exploud and Clear. When Ash challenged Guy to a Pokémon Battle, both Guy's Loudred and Ash's Treecko evolved at the same time.

Minor appearances

Loudred also appeared in Rough, Tough Jigglypuff. Mitch Mitchum had captured it because he thought that the Big Voice Pokémon's Ability to be immune to sound-based moves would help him to catch a Jigglypuff for his daughter's birthday.

Loudred appeared in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Darkness and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky - Beyond Time & Darkness as a member of the Wigglytuff Guild.

A Loudred appeared in Camping It Up!

In the Pokémon Adventures manga

A herd of Whismur, Loudred, and Exploud first appeared during Courtney's attack on Ruby in the Rusturf Tunnel. Their combined Hyper Voice proved useful in clearing the obstacles that blockaded the area.

A Loudred later appeared in the Platinum arc, as one of the Pokémon Platinum rented during her Battle Factory challenge.
