At one time, the Professor helped at the "Game Store" in the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, where she gave extensive tutorials on how to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game. These tutorials can now be found as a stand alone browser-based program on Pokémon.com. A separate and distinct in-game set of Tutorial Modes was later re-implemented for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online itself.

Her name has not been given nor was her actual position at the Game Store, if she ever had one. However, the official newsletters for TCGO from the period were signed by a "Professor Maven". This may be her name.

Tutorials

The Professor's tutorials are are divided into three broad categories: Basic Skills, Intermediate Skills, and Advanced Skills.

• Topics covered under Basic Skills include: Energy, Pokémon Evolutions, Trainer Cards Save the Day, and Battle!.
• Topics covered under Intermediate Skills include: Weakness & Resistance, Retreating Your Pokémon, Prize Cards & Winning the Game, and You're on the Hot Seat.
