In the anime
A Max Repel appeared in Climbing the Tower of Success! as an item looked for during a scavenger hunt.
In Lulled to La-La Land!, Lillie mentioned having used Max Repels to keep wild Pokémon away from herself while camping in a forest with Ash and the rest of her classmates. This inadvertently ended up protecting her from a wild Morelull that attacked everybody else and drained their energies.
