Secret Power is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation III.

Location

In Generation III, a young man standing by a tree west of Fortree City gives TM43.

Effect

Generation III

In Generation III, Secret Power allows the user to create their own secret base. When used on certain trees, a vine drops down. When used on indented walls, a cave opens. When used on certain bushes, an entrance opens.

In battles, its added effects have a 30% probability of happening.

If Secret Power is used in:

  • Tall grass or water puddles, it causes Sleep.
  • Sand, it lowers the target's Accuracy by one level.
  • Rocky surfaces or caves, it causes Flinching.
  • Water, it lowers the target's Attack.
  • Snow fields or ice, it causes Freeze.
  • Plain terrains or building floors, it causes Paralysis.
  • Ashy terrain such as Route 113, it causes Poison.

Generation IV

If Secret Power is used in:

  • Tall grass or water puddles, it causes Sleep.
  • Sand, it lowers the target's Accuracy by one level.
  • Rocky surfaces or caves, it causes Flinching.
  • Marshy terrain, it lowers the target's Speed.
  • Water, it lowers the target's Attack.
  • Snow fields or ice, it causes Freeze.
