Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Nick.!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a captial B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote :from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. You will have to register separately for it, as well. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Nick./(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! Porygon-Z 21:29, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey the "French" title you put was wronf 1st of all it was in SPANISH and 2nd why did you put it as FRENCH when clearly it was Spanish. CoolPikachu!

Easy there, CP. Don't bite the newbies, remember? Besides, you've got the wrong guy. What this kid did was add the Spanish title used in Spain. The erroneous French title was added back in February by Extorchic; probably just a stupid mistake, considering Fabu-Vinny added the correct one over a month earlier. --Martonimos((Talk)) 23:59, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
kk CoolPikachu!
And don't forget, it's "Latin-American Spanish", not "Latinamerican Spanish". Additionally, the type of Spanish used in Spain is Ibreian Spanish or Continental Spanish. I'd go for Iberian. Same with the Portuguese used in Portugal. Iberian. TTEchidna 00:27, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Movie 11 details

Do you have a source for your statements that Brendan appeared in his Emerald clothes and that Togekiss made a cameo in the movie? I've removed those statements for now, since none of the people who saw the movie reported either of those tidbits. --Unown Lord 06:17, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

I have just noticed Togekiss in Pokémon Sunday's footage of the movie, which I assume was your source.
At any rate, Brendan is not nearly focused enough to make assertions about his attire. I cannot help but think that you saw resemblances to the Emerald clothes simply because you expected to find such. One would expect that if Brendan appeared differently than before, he would be shown more clearly. Not only that, but Pokémon Sunday identified the character by displaying Brendan's Ruby/Sapphire artwork. That could have been sloppy work on their part, but then again, if only a select few viewers with very good eye sight can recognize the Emerald attire, what was the point of including it?

File:MovieBrendan.png

Besides which, I can clearly make out the color yellow towards the end of his pants. His pants in Emerald are entirely pitch-black. --Unown Lord 06:50, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
It makes sense. May was in Sinnoh, so can Brendan. Besides, he does deserve more cameos. We should try adding Rhyperior to his page and sees what others say.--Tavisource 06:56, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes I saw that preveiw on StudioPokemon(Even though the pic is from the site)--CoolPikachu! 06:57, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Wait, Rhyperior is already their. NM--Tavisource 06:59, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
The question at hand isn't whether or not it is Brendan in the picture, but rather which set of clothes he is wearing there. --Unown Lord 07:01, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
They usually have cameos of Brendan in movies, and the color patterns on his clothes look very alike, so I'll say that 80%, it's Brendan.--Tavisource 07:04, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
You should read more carefully. It is 100% Brendan; we are discussing which clothes he is wearing, as he has two sets from the games. Please don't make me repeat that for the third time. --Unown Lord 07:08, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I'm very tired. I should probably go get some sleep. And I agree that it is the one from RS. good night.--Tavisource 07:10, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Ok, compare this:

File:MovieBrendan.png

To this: File:Brendancameo.PNG

It's the Emerald colors! But the clothes are not exactly as the games, as Lucas, the shirt of Lucas is more blue, but in the games the shirt is totaly black. I don't know, but in the first image I see more green and orange. The red isn't there... Why do not we wait for the movie is online, and do not comment any of that? I think that is better. --Nick. 15:52, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't mind leaving out this discussion from Brendan's article until we can make final judgment based on the DVD. The detail is not important enough in the first place.
However, I will note that the fact Pokémon Sunday referred to Brendan as the Ruby/Sapphire male player is very strong evidence in favor of my argument. It is also unarguable that Brendan wore the same pants from the previous two movies, which are part of the Ruby/Sapphire attire. On the other hand, I personally fail to detect green patterns on his shirt, nor do I see anything resembling actual skin, which would be shown if he wore his short-sleeved shirt.
It is also highly probable that the Pokémon Sunday footage contained the entire scene. If so, Brendan was shown very briefly, and was only recognized by the movie viewers who remembered seeing him more closely in similar scenes. It stands to reason that his outfit remained the same; there is only so much that a first-time viewer can spot within two seconds. --Unown Lord 06:11, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

User Page

Could you at least try and do all edits in one go, or use the preview button to avoid multiple quick edits? Other users do not wish for the User name space to be blocked again. Gywall(Talk) 16:56, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry. I knew this but I can't resist to do it TwT I promisse that it will not happen again --Nick. 16:58, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Please

Slow down on editing the User: namespace. Editing your userpage too much will lead to it being locked again. Instead of making ten small edits, why not instead use the preview button (Alt + Shift + P) to check your edits before saving the page. Thank you. --Porygon-Z 04:20, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Again

This is your second warning. Please refrain from editing the User: namespace too rapidly, or you will lose privileges. --Porygon-Z 21:25, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

New episode titles

Where did you get them from? Please tell me it wasn't Wikipedia. --ケンジガール 06:59, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Oh Cartoon Network. Okay. Ignore this message then. --ケンジガール 07:01, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Creating Episode Articles

Instead of copying and pasting from another article, please use Template:DP episode when creating an episode article. If you don't know how to use it, here's a lowdown:

  1. This field denotes the number of the episode in question. For example, for the DP096 article, the field should read 96. The previous and following episode numbers are handled automatically
  2. This field denotes the announced Japanese broadcast date. For example, if DP096 were announced for four weeks after DP092, this field would read October 2, 2008. (Note that this is in no way indicitave of DP096's actual Japanese airdate.)
  3. This field denotes the raw episode name in kanji.
  4. This field denotes the translated episode name in Roman characters. For example, if DP096's Japanese title were to translate as "Pottaishi VS Maril! Companion Battle?!", that translation would make up field 6 with its raw kanji as field 5. (Note that this is in no way indicitave to any actual DP096 plot.)

The template may be daunting to those unfamiliar with it, but it should grow on you after a few uses. --Shiningpikablu252 16:41, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Ok, I'll try to use it. Nick. 16:50, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Stop

Don't change any dub titles until the episode airs! The dub title is represented by the title card, not pokemon.com. We put the title from pokemon.com or other websites until the title card is shown! MoldyOrange 16:37, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Ok, I'll wait --Nick. 16:39, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you, now if we could just have everyone wait... things would end up being a lot better. MoldyOrange 16:42, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but almost everyone wants to have the scoop... and CN's page is a disaster. --Nick. 16:45, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Mystery Dungeon 2 Player

A usertag you have been using, {{User Mystery Dungeon 2}}, has been moved to a new location due to a split in the usertag between the two versions. Your tag has been switched to that template's new location, {{User Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time}}. If you only play Explorers of Darkness, you can reflect it by changing the tag to {{User Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Darkness}}. --Shiningpikablu252 01:49, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

DP episode

I noticed that you were using only {{DP episode}} to create the episode articles for the four most recently-announced episodes. Such an action is not advisable, as there are several fields that should be entered to create the article smoothly. Here's a lowdown on how to use the template correctly:

  1. This field denotes the number of the episode in question. For example, for the DP101 article, the field should read 101. The previous and following episode numbers are handled automatically
  2. This field denotes the announced Japanese broadcast date. For example, if DP101 were announced for four weeks after the most recently-announced episode, this field would read October 30, 2008. (Note that this is in no way indicitave of DP101's actual Japanese airdate.)
  3. This field denotes the raw episode name in kanji.
  4. This field denotes the translated episode name in Roman characters. For example, if DP101's Japanese title were to translate as "Kannagi Town Contest Final! Pottaishi VS. Emperte!", that translation would make up field 6 with its raw kanji as field 5. (Note that this is in no way indicitave to any actual DP101 plot.)

If you can get a grasp of how the fields work, then you should have no problem in creating episode articles using the {{DP episode}} template.--Shiningpikablu252 16:26, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Categorization

Whenever you create a new article, make sure you categorize it. It's Bulbapedia policy that all pages in encyclopedic namespaces must be categorized; the Main Page is the one and only exception. --Shiningpikablu252 17:21, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I forgot it... It will not happen again. --Nick. 17:22, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm not trying to be mean, but please say where you get the dub titles from so we don't searching for it.

episode 100

i uploaded the episode 100 image File:DP100.JPG and my question is why can't i use the image on the List of Diamond & Pearl episodes The image of choice is File:DP100.jpg

the image policy does not say anything about not using spoilers. http://archives.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Archives:Manual_of_style

  • If used in the articles for the episode or movie that the screenshot was derived from, avoid trimming the image. Screenshots for episodes should be 320x240, or failing that, in another 4:3 ratio. Screenshots for movies should be 426x240, or failing that, in another 16:9 ratio, assuming the movie is in widescreen format. If the screenshot is used in another article, such as a character profile, trimming is allowed to focus the image on the article's subject.
  • Episode screenshots should be as informative about the episode as possible. The best screenshots focus on major characters, depict the plot or major events of the episode, and display the episode's animation quality. (Pikastorm 18:24, 2 November 2008 (UTC))

You've been blocked for edit warring over DP098 in accordance with the image reversion policy. I had to give you the eight days, as that was the full number of reverts; not just yours, but the total number. Next time, remember to come to one of the admins before getting into an edit war over an image, and we won't have to do this again. Review the policy for more info.
