Despite being bulky, Dragonite are incredibly agile and fast. Unlike it's pre-evolutions, it is orange and possesses arms and legs. They resemble a European dragon, and have a pair of little wings that can increase in size while in flight. It has a taller stature than most humans.

Dragonite are very strong. They can cause a great deal of damage to most Pokémon. Dragonite's signature move (prior to Gen III) is Outrage, a powerful Dragon-type move. Although it is rather difficult compared to other Pokémon to level a Dragonite up, they gain much more power than most other Pokémon after they evolve.
Behavior
Dragonite has a kindhearted disposition. They have been said to save people from drowning and lead ships that have been trapped in storms to safety. Dragonite are said to have a human-matching intelligence. They are extremely fast, so fast that they are able to circle around the globe in sixteen hours.
The first time that Dragonite actually made an appearance was during Mewtwo Strikes Back. The orange dragon delivered an invitation to Ash and co. to come to New Island.
A Dragonite that belonged to the original Gym Leader of the Blackthorn Gym appeared in Fangs For Nothing. This Dragonite went on a rampage when Team Rocket tried to steal a sacred bowl of fire in the following episode.
Pokémon Ranger: After the sixth mission, it is possible to use the Dragonite Bus. The Dragonite must be captured once but afterwards it will fly the player to any of the Ranger bases.

Dragonite has the second highest base stat average of all non-legendary Pokémon, the first being Slaking. However, it is tied with the four other pseudo-legendary evolutions. Dragonite is also tied with many other legendaries for base stat average, including Mew, Celebi, Deoxys, Latios and Latias.
Its stats are fairly similar to Salamence's, with Salamence having lower defenses but higher Speed and slightly higher HP.
In Generation I games, Dragonite didn't have a horn. One was added during Generation II. However there does appear to be a horn on Dragonite's Green sprite.
Of all the evolved Pokémon that evolve by level alone, Dragonite evolves to its final form later than any other Pokémon, at level 55. It shares this trait with Tyranitar.
A Dragonite in Red, Blue, and Green has an illegal move, Barrier. This Dragonite belonged to Lance. Lance would later have another Pokémon with an illegal move: A Generation IIAerodactyl that knows Rock Slide (Aerodactyl could not learn Rock Slide legally until Generation III).
In Red and Blue, Dragonite's unevolved form Dratini has the lines on its stomach that it shares with Dragonite. However Dragonair, the middle evolution, does not.
Dragonite's name was first used in the 1995 game EarthBound, before Pokémon was released. Its name was used in an item called the Bag of Dragonite.
Origin
Appearance-wise, it is similar to European dragons or fairy dragons. In regards to its friendly nature and high intelligence, it is closer to a lóng, a traditional Chinese dragon who brings good luck.

Dragonite's name appears to be a combination of dragon and knight, "ignite," or night. It could also refer to draconite, a mythical stone of dragons. Its Japanese name is a combination of 海 kai, ocean, or 破壊 hakai, destruction, and 竜 ryū, dragon.
