The Official Pokémon YouTube channel released a video showcasing a fictional "Pokémon Sleep Champion Tournament 2024", in which participants compete in a televised live event to earn the best score in Pokémon Sleep.

Events
Pokémon GO
An event titled An Excellent Opportunity was held on April 1, 2024, from 0:00 to 23:59 local time. During the event, Nice Throws or better always registered as Excellent Throws. Special event-themed Field Research for Spinda and Timed Research for Stardust, Poké Balls, Great Balls, Ultra Balls, and three Golden Razz Berries were also available during the event.[1]
Pokémon Masters EX
A one-day special event, Electricity Disruptors, saw the Pokémon Center be plunged into darkness due to a mysterious power outage, causing a large number of Ghost-type Pokémon to appear and the Lavender Town theme from Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow to replace the usual background music. Several actual ghosts also made an appearance, including the Lumiose City ghost girl from Pokémon X and Y and the fake Acerola from Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
Pokémon Sleep
As a tie-in to the Pokémon Sleep Champion Tournament 2024 hoax, a free gift of 4 Poké Biscuits, 1 Recovery Incense, 4 Energy Pillow, and 1 Dream Cluster M is given to all players.[2]
Fansites
The Cave of Dragonflies pretended to add front page links to online casinos, which was actually a front for a new article explaining the mechanics of the Roulette from Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. This was completed with a casino-themed style, which was forced on users for the day.[3]
Smogon forums had a number of April Fools threads:
- The OU forum created a thread proposing undoing all of the bans in the format, under the pretense that tier leader Finchinator was corrupt.[4]
- The National Dex Doubles form posted a thread where the "Pokémon" from Pokéstar Studios would be added to the metagame. It also proposed adding in battle item use, and adding the Gem items.[5]
- The Other Metagames forum put up a thread for a Pokémon Sleep-based metagame.[6]
Aesthetic changes
Bulbagarden
For April Fools' Day, Bulbagarden became Larrygarden, being restyled to the aesthetic of the Paldean Gym Leader and Elite Four member Larry.[7]
Bulbapedia had a grayscale theme for the day to match Larry's plain personality,[8] while the Bulbagarden forums had a simple, plain-style skin.[9] In some cases, the color of the screen would be restored but Larry would remain.
