Battle Villa
The Battle Villa (Japanese: バトルヴィラ Battle Villa) is a battle facility in Pokémon Masters EX. Introduced in Version 1.7.1, it features sequential battle stages that allow the player to earn special rewards. It is unlocked after completing Chapter 7 of the PML Arc. Unlike most battles in Pokémon Masters EX, the HP and MP of the team will be carried over between battles. The stages in the Battle Villa can be attempted at any time from the Side Area in the Explore menu.
Mechanics
Battles
Battles in the Battle Villa occur in stages known as halls which feature the same three-on-three battles found elsewhere in Pasio. The player must sequentially defeat 30 halls at the villa, with battles becoming more difficult as the player progresses through the halls. The stages can be divided into sets of five battles, with each set featuring opponents weak to three different Pokémon types. The first three battles in each set are against opponents with one weakness each. The fourth and fifth battles are against a unique NPC (including Gym Leaders, the Elite Four, and Frontier Brains), and these battles feature Pokémon of all three weakness types.
Each time a battle ends—whether through all the opponent's sync pairs being defeated or all the player's sync pairs being defeated—the sync pairs that the player used in that battle are added to their sync pair roster. Up to nine sync pairs can be added to the roster; once the roster is full, no additional sync pairs can be used in battles until team restrictions are reset. Unlike most other battles in Pokémon Masters EX, the HP and MP of the team are carried over between battles. When a sync pair's HP falls to 0, the sync pair cannot participate in any further battles until a full recovery is used. Likewise, if the player's team is defeated, the opponent's HP will be carried over from the previous attempt.
A full recovery is given to the player once per day at 06:00 UTC, provided the player does not already have a full recovery; the player can use a full recovery at any time, and it fully heals all sync pairs and resets team restrictions. Players can also reset their progress at any time, which fully heals all sync pairs, resets all team restrictions, resets all battles that the player previously cleared, and restores all items that the player used.
As with other battles in Pokémon Masters EX, defeating a hall for the first time earns the player rewards. Most of these rewards include Gems, Lucky Cookies, and Lucky Scrolls. The player can also receive completion rewards after every battle, and bonus rewards after every five halls. These rewards can be obtained again each time the player resets their progress.
Every five halls, a small story area will play the first time the player challenges the battle where the player meets the primary opponent in a Battle Villa hall. A small story area will also play once the player completes the battle.
Items
Items exclusive to the Battle Villa can be used to provide useful effects to sync pairs. Players start off with one of each item at the start of a Battle Villa challenge.

Name | Use | |
---|---|---|
Hearty Stew | Restores 40% of an allied sync pair's HP | |
Replenishing Patty | Recovers all MP of all allied sync pairs |

Bonus rewards
Bonus rewards are obtained every fifth hall (excluding Hall 30), where upon defeating the opponent, the player can choose one of the following three options:

---|---|
5 | Hearty Stew ×1 Replenishing Patty ×1 |
10 | |

20 | Hearty Stew ×2 Replenishing Patty ×2 |

Defunct mechanics
Prior to version 2.41.0, released on January 29, 2024, each Battle Villa challenge had a set duration. At the start of each challenge, players would receive a fresh set of vitality and vigor treats, and all first-time battle rewards were reset, though each battle could only be completed once. In addition, the order of five-hall sets changed often, with opposing sync pairs' stats changing according to the number of their hall. However, the first five halls were always the same, featuring opponents with Electric, Ice, and Water weaknesses.
Initially, the Battle Villa was open continuously, with stages refreshing approximately every two weeks and the order of halls rotating every month. At the beginning of each day, sync pairs' HP and MP were restored, and roster restrictions were reset. There were two co-op battle stages that were unlocked after completing Hall 20 and Hall 25 for the first time, and these could be challenged an unlimited number of times. In addition to regular battle rewards, players could receive special rewards called milestone rewards depending on how many halls they managed to clear during each two-week challenge. Milestone rewards could be claimed as soon as the next challenge began, and they would be stored for up to four Battle Villa challenges after the current one ended. However, the continuous challenge period ended on October 27, 2020, and milestone rewards from that challenge could not be claimed until it reopened on November 19, 2020.
From November 19, 2020, to January 23, 2024, the Battle Villa was only open for approximately two weeks each month. Milestone rewards were discontinued, with most items that were milestone rewards becoming battle completion rewards instead. The automatic daily recovery and reset were removed, being replaced with the full recovery feature. Each co-op battle became limited to one clear per day. Battle rewards and additional completion rewards were added in conjunction with this change. Also, the order of halls changed for every challenge.
Initially, there were only 25 halls available to challenge. Halls 26–30 were added on April 30, 2020, with Shauntal and Darach added as new opponents.
During the challenges in October 2021, October 2022, and October 2023, the Battle Villa was changed to have spooky purple fog appear in the background of battles and conversations. In addition, the bonus rewards screen was changed to take place at night, instead of during the day.
The following table lists the order of the sets during each Battle Villa challenge, denoted by the final opponent in each set of five halls.

Co-op
Prior to version 2.41.0, completion of Hall 20 and Hall 25 unlocked the co-op battle stages Challenge Noland and Challenge Thorton, respectively. These could originally be challenged an unlimited number of times, but in version 1.9.0 (released on April 27, 2020), each battle became limited to one clear per day. Battle rewards and additional completion rewards were added in conjunction with this change.
As of version 2.41.0, due to the Battle Villa now being part of the Side Area, these battles have been removed.
