Freeze-Dry (Japanese: フリーズドライ Freeze-Dry) is a damage-dealing Ice-type move introduced in Generation VI.

Effect

Freeze-Dry deals damage and has a 10% chance of freezing the target. Freeze-Dry will always deal super-effective (x2) damage to the Water-type, even during Inverse Battles or if its type is changed.

  • Freeze-Dry is the only Ice-type move introduced in Generation VI.
  • This move originated as a TCG attack.
  • The combination of Freeze-Dry and any damage-dealing Water-type move is the only combination of two moves that hits all 171 possible Pokémon type combinations for at least neutral damage and can be learned by at least one Pokémon.
    • In a Double Battle, the only set of eight moves that hits all 171 possible Pokémon type combinations for super effective damage and can be learned by a pair of Pokémon is the set of Freeze-Dry and any damage-dealing Dark-, Fairy-, Fighting-, Fire-, Ground-, Rock-, and Steel-type moves.
