Location of Nuvema Town in Unova.

Nuvema Town (Japanese: カノコタウン Kanoko Town) is a small town located in southeastern Unova. It is the hometown of the player in Pokémon Black and White. It is also the hometown of Cheren and Bianca—the rivals of the player in Pokémon Black and White, and the Gym Leader of the Aspertia Gym and Professor Juniper's assistant, respectively, in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. The Juniper Pokémon Lab, where Professor Juniper is based, is located in the town.

The town has only one exit; to the north is Route 1, leading to Accumula Town.

In Pokémon Black and White, after Alder has been defeated, Bianca can be found in the town on weekends, challenging the player to a rematch once a day.

Places of interest

Player's house

Main article: Player's house → Unova → Nuvema Town

This house lies in the middle of Nuvema Town. In Pokémon Black and White, it is where the player lives before beginning their journey. The player's mother lives here. The player, Cheren, and Bianca get their first partner Pokémon from Professor Juniper here at the start of their journeys, and the latter two promptly challenge the player to a battle. There are two stories in the house, the first being a living room and kitchen area, and the second being the player's bedroom. The player's bedroom contains a Wii controlled with a Wii Remote, connected to a plasma TV given to the player by their father, and a PC, although this PC only includes information on "Pokémon Basics". After they have defeated Team Plasma, Looker meets the player here and gives them a Super Rod.

In Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, Hilbert/Hilda's mother initially mistakes the player for her own child before correcting herself. She continues to heal the player's Pokémon as in Black and White, commenting on how she may want to go on a journey to find her child; however, she worries that they would return while she was gone. She does not refer to her child by their name, unless Memory Link has been established. The PC in the Hilbert/Hilda's room looks as if it has not been used in a long time.

Bianca's house

Bianca's house is located in the southwest of the town. Bianca's parents live here. Upstairs is Bianca's room, which contains a bookshelf lined with Pokémon picture books, a shelf and two cabinets filled with goods, two plants, and a desk. The bed has pink covers and is on a turquoise rug. A window is on the back wall, with a desk in the bottom-right corner.

In Pokémon Black and White, when the player first visits the house, Bianca's father is yelling at her for thinking of going on a journey by herself. Ultimately, however, Bianca goes on her journey anyway.

Cheren's house

Cheren's house is located in the southeast of the town. Cheren's parents live here. Cheren's room has five shelves of books, a widescreen TV, a PC with information on how to play the game, a maroon rug in front of the television, and a bed with brown covers in the bottom-right. A sliding window is located above the staircase.

The PC states:

"Adventure Rule No. 1
"The X Button opens the menu!
"Adventure Rule No. 2
"Record your progress with SAVE.
"There is nothing else on here..."

Juniper Pokémon Lab

Professor Juniper's lab in the anime

The Juniper Pokémon Lab lies in the northwest of the town. In Pokémon Black and White, when the player first starts their journey, Cheren and Bianca are waiting for the player outside. When the trio enter the lab, Professor Juniper is waiting for them. She lets the player nickname their first partner Pokémon before giving them a Pokédex. When spoken to, Professor Juniper asks to see the player's Pokédex and counts the number of Pokémon they have seen in the Unova Pokédex; she will give three different prizes throughout the game based on the number. Cedric Juniper can be found here after the player has entered the Hall of Fame, providing a count of Pokémon registered in the National Pokédex. After the tutorial on how to catch Pokémon, the Patrat Professor Juniper caught can be seen wandering around the lab. In Black 2 and White 2, Cinccino and Watchog are seen instead in the lab.

Nuvema Town in the anime

In the anime, Nuvema Town is the hometown of Trip and Bianca, two of Ash's rivals, as well as Aspertia City's new Gym Leader Cheren, in Pokémon the Series: Black & White. The town is shown to have a harbor and an airport with an ATC tower. It is also the location of Professor Juniper's laboratory, where a variety of Pokémon lives. The lab is visited by many beginning Trainers in the Unova region, who are given the option of starting their journey with a Snivy, Tepig, or Oshawott. Nuvema Town also has a few shops.

It first appeared in In The Shadow of Zekrom!, when Ash, Delia, and Professor Oak arrived there by airplane, and were greeted by Professor Juniper. Soon afterwards, in Enter Iris and Axew!, Ash left Nuvema Town to begin his journey in Unova.

Ash returned to Nuvema Town along with his friends Iris and Cilan in New Places... Familiar Faces!, from which they departed to the White Ruins; and again in Farewell, Unova! Setting Sail for New Adventures!, when they decided to travel to Kanto through the Decolore Islands aboard a cruise ship.

Pokémon Adventures

Black & White arc

Nuvema Town first appeared in Fussing and Fighting, where Professor Juniper prepared to give the three first partner Pokémon she had to new Trainers. The package containing the first partner Pokémon and three Pokédexes was obtained by Black in Choices. From the three first partner Pokémon, he chose Tepig, while his childhood friends Cheren and Bianca chose Snivy and Oshawott, respectively. However, after Black had left, it turned out that him accidentally dropping the package to the ground earlier had left Cheren and Bianca's Pokédexes inoperable, leaving Black with the only functioning one. As such, they left them with Professor Juniper to be repaired before heading after Black.

In At Liberty on Liberty Garden, Professor Juniper asked Black and White to research Victini at Liberty Garden. After they had completed her request, they sent the data they had gathered to Professor Juniper's laboratory, where she also received a sudden surprise visit from her father.

In A Wretched Reunion, it was revealed that N had broken into Professor Juniper's laboratory a year earlier and "liberated" a set of first partner Pokémon that were kept there at the time as his first act as the King of Team Plasma. Snivy had chosen to follow N, Tepig had eventually wound up with White, and Oshawott had been taken under the care of Cedric Juniper.
