Fun at the...Potato Dig? (Japanese: たのしいイモ掘り大会 Fun at the Potato Dig) is the 16th chapter of the Magical Pokémon Journey manga.
Plot
Grandpa hosts a potato digging contest in which participants must uncover a pink potato to win a prize. Hazel, Almond, Pikachu, Clefairy, and Squirtle all compete with the intention of having a cook-out with the potatoes they harvest. As they begin to search, Walnut suddenly springs out from the earth. He introduces himself to Hazel and Almond, then explains he was just using a ninja technique called "Mole-Fu" to find potatoes. He tells everyone that he is competing because Master Ditto is using this as an opportunity to test his ninja skills, and that he will be expelled if he does not succeed. Hazel volunteers to help him and he runs to her in tears, prompting Almond to intervene and volunteer as well. Walnut responds by hugging Almond, making Squirtle jealous.
As the group continues to search, they stumble across an Abra. Realizing that Abra has powers of teleportation, Almond suggests for Walnut to ask it for help finding the pink potato. Walnut does so, but Abra misunderstands, summoning first a string, then a large spider. Hazel attempts to draw the pink potato to show Abra, but due to her poor artistic ability, Abra believes she is referring to a rock, and summons one right above Walnut's head. Almond tries to show Abra an actual potato, but it falls asleep before it can see it. Walnut drops to his knees and sulks in front of Abra, and suddenly while in its sleep, Abra summons Grandpa's map to the buried pink potato.
The group follows the map and begins to dig in the marked location. After searching tirelessly, Walnut manages to uncover it. He runs off, vowing to repay everyone for their assistance. When Hazel waves goodbye, Abra quietly teleports into the area and steals every potato she had dug. As Hazel mourns her missing potatoes, Almond gives her the bucket of everything he harvested. Hazel hugs him and professes her love, and Almond embarrassedly tells her to simply cook something good with them.
The next day, Almond is horrified to learn that Jigglypuff had helped Hazel cook the potatoes. Meanwhile, Walnut receives his prize from Grandpa—a trophy shaped like a potato.
