Knowledge of the Unown II (Japanese: VS アンノーンII VS Unown II), titled VS Unown II in the Chuang Yi translation, is the 355th chapter of the Pokémon Adventures manga, and the 18th chapter of the Diamond & Pearl arc.
It is subtitled Unown and the Ancient Ruin (Japanese: アンノーンと古代遺跡 Unknown and the Ancient Ruins) in the VIZ Media translation and Unowns and Ancient Relics in the Chuang Yi translation.
Plot
Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum continue following the Unown through the Solaceon Ruins. As they walk, Pearl points out how the P-shaped Unown is quick-tempered and the D-shaped Unown seems a bit spaced-out. Platinum decides to name them "Mr. Hasty" and "Mr. Relaxed" to match their personalities.
Diamond discovers some Unown that are trapped behind a wall, and realizes that is the reason why the Unown brought them to the ruins. Pearl attempts to break down the wall with Chimler, but Platinum advises against damaging the ruins. The group begins to search for a way into the room, when a boulder comes rolling down the stairs. They narrowly avoid being hit, but fall into a spinning wall that knocks them into a dark room.
Separated from their Fire-type Pokémon and unable to light the way, the three make a plan to stick together as they fumble their way through the darkness. Platinum, having memorized the glyphs at the entrance to the ruins, gives the group directions as they try to escape. When Mr. Hasty and Mr. Relaxed tug at Diamond and Pearl's arms, the group realizes they must be close to the trapped Unown.
Platinum attempts to climb up a wall for clues, but she slips. A Poké Ball falls from her when she is caught by Diamond. Her Prinplup suddenly appears, with bright letters and hearts shining over it. Platinum reveals that she obtained a Ball Capsule and some Seals from the newspaper editors, which is causing the brightness in the room.
Finally able to see their surroundings, the three look for clues. Diamond finds another set of glyphs on the wall and Platinum translates. After she reads the message, there is a rumbling behind them. The trapped Unown, as well as Chimler and Platinum's Ponyta, are freed and reunited with their friends.
Returning to Solaceon Town, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum see the Ranchers from the Pokémon News Press. Anticipating an article about the Unown, Pearl is shocked to see his comedy act with Diamond on the front page as a photo comic. The newspaper editors ask Platinum questions about the ruins, but she declines to answer them to protect the Unown.
The next day in Canalave City, Professor Rowan and Mr. Berlitz prepare for a conference. Mr. Berlitz worries about Platinum, but shuts down his own concerns as he reminds himself that she is safe with her bodyguards. A woman offers the two the Pokémon News tabloid and Professor Rowan declines, dismissing its articles as absurd. As the newspaper falls to the floor, its front page is revealed to depict the photo taken of Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum without their permission.
