After spotting one of Team Galactic's spy eyes among the Yanmega, Diamond commands for Tru to use "Diamond Special Mach One and Only," a variation of Razor Leaf. The attack is blocked by a Yanmega, and Diamond realizes he has to act fast before he is completely surrounded by the swarm. He whispers something to Kit, and Roseanne watches in surprise as Diamond approaches the Yanmega. Wanting to help Diamond, Roseanne searches around and finds Lax's Iron Ball, but it is scratched up. Roseanne realizes that the Yanmega are using attacks that damage their opponents internally, which is how the Iron Ball became scratched up, despite being hidden under Lax's fur.

Roseanne tries to warn Diamond, but she realizes that the Shock Wave prevents her voice from reaching them. She yells out when Diamond and Kit appear to be swept up in an attack. The equipment all around the Pokémon Research Lab shatters, and Roseanne and Sebastian both watch in shock as Diamond waves to them, unharmed. He reveals that he was able to hear Roseanne's warning, and thanks her for her help. Diamond shows them that Kit has the spy eye in its grasp, and it proceeds to destroy it. With the spy eye broken, the Yanmega stop attacking and fly out of the laboratory.

Roseanne runs to Diamond, shocked that he was able to survive such an attack. Diamond reveals that Kit had swallowed a Protector, then shielded him from the attack. He explains that he came up with the idea after checking his Pokédex, impressing Roseanne and Sebastian.

Meanwhile, Mars is frustrated to find that the live feed she had been viewing from the spy eye has been cut short. She blames Saturn for the failure of the device, upset that she wasn't able to use it to uncover anything in Professor Rowan's lab. A Team Galactic Grunt turns to Mars, and she realizes that they have arrived at Lake Verity.

Back at the laboratory, Roseanne tells Diamond that he's lucky for having the Protector, and Diamond reveals he was on his way to return it to its owner after Kit had stolen it for its collection. Upon taking a closer look at the Protector, Roseanne realizes that it belongs to the laboratory. She is frustrated that it became covered in Kit's drool, but calms herself down as she remembers that Diamond saved her. Diamond sneezes, and his shredded clothes start to come off. Sebastian volunteers to get him a new outfit, but Diamond tells him not to worry, since his house isn't far away. Diamond and his Pokémon set off for Twinleaf Town.

Standing by a windmill, Mars reviews some data about the three lakes. She smiles, happy that it's the perfect day for Team Galactic's plans to begin. She reveals that Team Galactic has only built one Galactic Bomb, and that only Cyrus knows where it is. Suddenly, Mars pauses and looks upward. To her surprise, she sees a Yanmega flying back to her.

Meanwhile, as Pearl rides on a tandem bike with Rad Rickshaw, he asks about the Eterna City statue. Rad tells him that the statue is decades old, and that when he was younger, there were two plaques on it. Rad explains that the plaques were written about a "D-something," which described a "giver of time," and a "P-something," which described a "creator of parallel dimensions." He then reveals that Team Galactic had tried to interrogate him about the statue when they kidnapped him.

In a flashback to the time where Rad was taken to the Team Galactic Eterna Building, he tries to explain to a spy eye that he doesn't know anything about the statue. Cyrus's voice speaks out of the spy eye, asking Rad what he knows about Dialga and Palkia.
