The full-body variants of Brendan's and May's Contest outfits are never seen in-game but the files are in the ROMs. They are just in-game copies of the official artwork, however.

Unused dialogue
A lady in the Dewford Pokémon Center explains the hiragana/kanji setting in the Options menu in the Japanese version. As this option is not present in international versions, her dialogue is changed, leaving both the English translation of the Japanese dialogue and the Japanese version of the international dialogue unused.
- Japanese dialogue
- 「ひらがな よりも 漢字 大好きな ガールの 私が 特別 大サービスで 説明書を 読で あげるわ 『Xボタンで 設定を 選ぶと 文字モードを 切り替えることが できます ひらがなを 選べば メッセージが ひらがなに 漢字を 選べば メッセージが 漢字に あっという間に 早変わり!』 あなたに 素敵な 漢字ライフが 訪れますように……」
- (unused) "Allow me, a girl who loves kanji more than hiragana, to provide the very special treat of reading the instructions for you. You can change the character display by pressing the X Button to choose the setting. If you select hiragana, messages will be displayed in hiragana. If you choose kanji, they'll be in kanji. The change will happen in a flash! May you enjoy a lovely kanji-filled life!"
- International dialogue
- "As long as you have Pokémon by your side, you can overcome language barriers and meet many different kinds of people."
- (unused) 「ポケモンが そばに いてくれれば 言葉の 壁を 越えて 色んな 人たちと ふれあうことが できるよね」
Regional differences
