Talk:Feebas (Pokémon)
> Does anyone know what fish Feebas is supposed to be, anyways? I always assumed due to it's coloring and general ugliness, not to mention certain aspects of design, that it was a flounder - albiet one with eyes on two different sides.
Anyone have a better comparison or idea?
- Zeta
I have an overriding desire to use that pic somewhere else, eventually.
I always figured it was a bass. -Ket
Yeah, it does kinda look like a bass to me. --BJG
Maxing out its beauty? Mine isn't maxed out and it evolved just fine.
What rod is needed to catch Feebas? - Mechawyvern
I'm pretty sure it doesn't require max beauty, just a beauty of 200. --Ozzie 07:48, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- What's maximum, for comparison, anyway? TTEchidna 08:00, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- I couldn't say for sure, but my guess is 255, making 200 not maxed out, but fairly close to it.
Maximize Beauty?
I just traded for a Feebas in my FireRed game. How do I max beauty? Or do I have to trade it away, have it evolve, then trade it back? Harvestdancer 03:36, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Pokeblocks are not obtainable in FR/LG - thus, no evolving Feebas. Tina☆♥♫ 03:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
I can't find a Feebas. I know that it changes with the cool saying at Dewford, but I can't find it on route 119. I've gone up that waterfall and used both my Super and Good Rod, but anywhere I try, It's just not there. Is it very rare. The article said something about 6 lakes, but there's only 3 on route 119 and that's where it's supposed to be. (I've also looked on route 118 and I can't find it. What am I doing wrong???!!!! Unsigned comment by CJS1309
- Not six lakes; it's in six of the hundreds of fishing spots on the river. You're going to have to check every square of water on Route 119, probably more than once. --FabuVinny T-C-S 18:29, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
is it the same in hg/ss? do i have to catch it and trade to d/p/pt or can you get poffins in hg/ss somehow?--Ben7229 21:10, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
- Ignoring that the conversation was two and a half years old, take it to Daisy and get it groomed - That raises the beauty stat. after several of those level it up and it will evolve. It might take a few level ups - the Beauty stat itself can't be checked in HGSS. Werdnae (talk) 21:14, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
Maxing
what is the best way to max beauty (with beneficial natures) in gen 3 and 4?? (e.g which pokeblocks/poffins work best) should it be noted in the article?? Dion24 12:05, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
I managed to evolve mine with 170 beauty. 10 level 17 dry poffins, made from wiki berries. I didn't have a beneficial nature either, the nature was Bold. - Valorn 10:10, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
About its Sp.A./HP...
Um. Well, who CARES if its HP is the same as Shuckle. The real thing that should be noted are its stats being essentially Special/Physical inverted versions of Magikarp's. TTEchidna 08:07, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know. Who cares that Bulbasaur is the first grass-type in National-dex order? It's trivia. We note these little things. We were stating that it has the lowest Sp Attack tied with Shuckle WHO ALSO happens to share the same base HP. An extra sentence isn't going to kill anyone... --ケンジのガール 18:15, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Rarity
It says that they are common in DP/Pt and RSE. But because they're so hard to find and take so long i think that should be changed Flyingemus 20:44, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, but once you find them they are like moths to a flame! If you're on the right square, you could get one every time. — THE TROM — 21:17, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- True, but they still suck to find Flyingemus 00:42, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Gender Ratio
I have caught nine Feebas. One was male. Does the ratio come from the game data itself, or from spading?--Gou 17:26, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- It comes from the inner-game data. Remember, Pokémon with 50/50 gender ratios are like flipping coins, the previous flip doesn't affect the next flip. Pokémon with 25/75 gender ratios is like rolling 4-sided dice, the previous roll doesn't affect the next roll. So, regardless of the ratio (unless it's genderless, or single gender species), it's 100% possible to get a large streak of either gender. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 17:34, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- I know how independent probability works. It's just the chance of finding a streak of nine Feebas with only one male is incredibly unlikely. ...Though, actually, any random string of nine with X Boys and X Girls is equally unlikely...- unsigned comment from Goukazaru (talk • contribs)
- The odds of eight or more Feebas out of nine being female is 10/512 which works out to about 1.95%, so yeah, it's pretty unlikely, but it's not ridiculously unlikely. Plus, nine is a really small sample size. Your margin of error is about 33%, meaning that if you hypothesize that the gender ratio is 75% female, 50% (the correct value) is within your margin of error. Drapion 23:28, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Evolution section
The beginning of the page says that Feebas evolves into Milotic when traded with a Clean Scale. However, the 5.8 Evolution section only has the Beauty evolution. Any chance we could get a picture in there with the Clean Scale included? --Jdthebud 21:52, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Done.--KayKay|Chat to me! 22:21, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I believe
That Feebas is the fisrt Pokémon to have its method evolution changed? not saying it is permanent, just thought it would be notable for the time being.--ForceFire 08:36, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- I think that honor belongs to Eevee really..in XD you have to use a Sun or Moon shard to evolve it due to the lack of day and night....(even though there is nighttime at certain points in the game...Ataro 08:41, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
I think the "fee" part from feeble is also from a pun like SEAbass. So may I make a note of that in english name origin?- unsigned comment from VENUS,MEGA,SCEPT,TORTE,SERP (talk • contribs)
Phoebus?
Just noticed this; Phoebus is a name for the god of sun and supposed to be the very figure of male beauty. Also, pronounced very similarly to Feebas. Just a coincidence, or supposed to be a reference to mximizing the baeuty or something like that? - unsigned comment from Confuzzled (talk • contribs)
Trivia
That piece of trivia says "They are the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 200.", Scatterbug also has that base stat total, could someone remove it or alter it? --Cinday123 (Talk) 03:39, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- I took care of it, but you can make that sort of edit yourself, in the future. --Wynd Fox 03:52, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
Reason for Phoebus name origin
I think that there might be a second reason for the resemblance of Feebas's name to that of Phoebus; Feebas has lots of similarities with Magikarp, right? And it is accepted in this wiki that the reason for the "magic" in Magikarp's name is a joke because everyone sees him as basically worthless, so maybe that's part of the reason for Feebas's resemblance to Feebas; it's ironic. With regards to the trendy phrase in Dewford...
There was mention on the talk page for Route 119 that the trendy phrase may change on its own over time. However, it was an old discussion and it seems more appropriate to discuss here since the only real purpose of the trendy phrase in Gen III is controlling Feebas tiles. The trendy phrase page itself doesn't say anything about it changing on its own, but I wonder if it might just be something that people haven't studied much since there's no game-driven motivation to mess with it once you manage to find a Feebas spawn location. So, my questions are;
- 1. Is there any evidence that the trendy phrase will change on its own?
- 2. If so, is it a 'clock-based event' that stops when the internal battery dies? (Meaning Feebas spawning tiles will remain permanent as long as the player doesn't manually change the trendy phrase.)

The Best Berries To Use To Evolve Feebas
What are the best berries to use to create Pokeblocks/Poffins to evolve Feebas? I've imported a Feebas over from Hoenn and tried using a bunch of Oran, Wiki, and other "dry" type berries. But nothing seems to get it high enough to evolve. Without having to find some super-rare berry, which are the best ones to grow in order to make Pokeblocks or Poffins to evolve Feebas? - unsigned comment from Mcheetah (talk • contribs)
