Gardenia's Roserade (Japanese: ナタネのロズレイド Natane's Roserade) is Gardenia's main Pokémon in the games, anime, and manga.
In the anime
Roserade debuted in The Grass Menagerie!, where it was the final Pokémon used by Gardenia during her battle with Ash at the Eterna Gym, going up against Turtwig, where it was easily able to defeat him with a Weather Ball powered up by the sun, therefore making it a Fire-type move. It then battled against Aipom, where despite being able to battle effectively at first, Roserade eventually was unable to keep up with the active Pokémon, and was ultimately knocked out with a combination of Focus Punch and Swift.
Roserade reappeared in a flashback in League Unleashed!, and later briefly appeared alongside Gardenia during the ending credits of Zoroark: Master of Illusions.
Personality and characteristics
Being Gardenia's strongest Pokémon, Roserade's power speaks for itself; it was able to easily knock out Turtwig with two hits, and was initially able to keep up with the fast and agile Aipom. Using its combination of offensive and status moves, Roserade is a very versatile Pokémon who is capable of matching up against almost any kind of opponent.

In the manga
Pokémon Adventures
Roserade debuted in Ring Around the Roserade I, where she was sent alongside Cherubi to battle against Platinum's Prinplup and Ponyta in a Double Battle at the Eterna Gym. Since the opponent's chosen Pokémon could use Fire and Ice-type attacks, Gardenia used the wide area of the plain grass to avoid being hit by them. As a distance-attack technique, Roserade used her poisonous vines under the arena, who defeated Ponyta and badly injured Prinplup. After being attacked by Cherubi's Grass Knot, Prinplup used her Blizzard in the tunnels the vines had dug, to deliver an underground at distance attack, which ended up defeating both Roserade and Cherubi.
Starting from Creeping Away from Cradily, Roserade and Gardenia joined the other Sinnoh Gym Leaders, and their Pokémon, in battling against Cyrus and Team Galactic. Later, the Gym Leaders went through the tunnels to get to Cyrus, and had their Pokémon attack the Red Chain to shatter it. Abomasnow was damaging the Red Chain, until it snapped. In actuality, however, Roserade and the others had merely shattered the fake, incomplete chain, leaving Cyrus to control Dialga and Palkia with the true Red Chain.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!
Roserade appeared in Win with Teamwork!!, where it was the third Pokémon used by Gardenia in the Gym battle against Hareta. It managed to defeat Hareta's Shinx due to the trap that Gardenia's Turtwig set up. It also battled with Misdreavus, who used Spite to lower the PP of Roserade's Magical Leaf. Nevertheless, Roserade managed to defeat Misdreavus, which left Piplup as the last Pokémon. After narrowly dodging Roserade's attacks, Piplup won the battle with an airborne Peck as Roserade could no longer use Magical Leaf to protect itself.
