Poke Mart Pt2
What do you mean by "would increase the post-expand include size by a significant amount"? Is it because using a template in a template needs more ressources?
Here is how I see it:
Imagine the table is X bytes and that we have 20 marts, so 20X bytes in the mainspace.
If we put the X bytes in a template and link these templates, we would be left with only X bytes and some other (for the template insertion). So 20X -> X. Where am I wrong? :o
Beside, as I said, I've spotted an error in the table, so instead of changing it 20 times, I'd only have to change it one time like this: (I know that you probably already know that, but I'm visual okay? :P )
Thank you in advance! ^~^ MannedTooth (Talk) 01:42, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
- MediaWiki is weird and so the post-include size for a template is the raw code of the template and the evaluated code as well. You can calculate the change by previewing the page before and after the change. Also, changing 20 pages is just relatively minor compared to hundreds or thousands of pages. --Abcboy (talk) 03:18, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi, I've gotten permission from User:Zesty Cactus to upload the screenshot as mentioned a week ago.
I'm not autoconfirmed on Archives, though. Can you help me upload it?

S07 on Hungama TV
So, Season 7 debuted today with AG041. Please update the South Asia page with this. Also, can you include a sentence like "The channel shifted the anime from a 1:00 PM time slot as was for the 6 earlier seasons to a 6:30 timeslot" ? → SuperPikaPool13 13:25, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Added. --Abcboy (talk) 19:48, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll let you know if there are any updates. → SuperPikaPool13 01:52, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
Staff of Mystery Dungeon
Hello should not Staff of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and Darkness be moved to Staff of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Expolrers of Darkness? It is inconsistently named both with other staff pages and with the main article itself. --Raltseye 17:01, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
Template for this page
Am I allowed to create a template to reduce the amount of code in this page ? MannedTooth (Talk) 02:24, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- The page is mostly text and a simple table. A template really wouldn't help that much. --Abcboy (talk) 02:35, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- For now it's only some tables, but I'm planning on adding all the toys, so about 40 tables. MannedTooth (Talk) 02:42, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- The table itself is simple. A template for the table, given the fact that the template is likely only going to be used on the one page, seems excessive. --Abcboy (talk) 02:46, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- As you wish, but it might reduce the page's size by ALOT. I also thought that some templates were only used once too? MannedTooth (Talk) 02:48, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- I don't wish to harass, but will making a template be that bad in comparaison of the ease it would provide me adding hundreds of figures? Think of when we will have images, this page will be heavy. MannedTooth (Talk) 03:30, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Inquiry on the Progress of Fixing Episode Numbering
Hello. I was wondering what the progress has been on fixing the episode numbering for the Pokemon Anime. I understand that this would take a lot of work and I appreciate what you and all the admins have done. However, it seems as if there is a lack of progress on this front, either that or a lack of information. Specifically, the status of what is currently SS033 has still not been decided on despite it being over 10 months. I'm sorry if this is the wrong person to ask and I apologize for any inconvenience, but it would be nice to have an update on the situation about where this issue is currently at right now. Personally, from your user page, I prefer Proposal 1, but that's just my humble opinion. Thank you so much for your consideration. --DTM (talk) 18:55, 20 February 2016 (UTC)
About Squishy
Excuse me, Abcboy, what do you think on how Squishy sounded like? It makes that warbling sound in English and Japan. So I just curious about how it really sounded like.--CoolPokéGuy (Talk) 05:27, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
- I haven't watched the episode in question recently, so unfortunately I can't assist you with how it sounded in the Japanese version. --Abcboy (talk) 05:34, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
Theresa Buchheister as Aliana?
Where did she confirm this? I know she confirmed a season 19 role, but where did she specify Aliana? Technickal (talk) 21:41, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
- A user who has apparent ties to and previously edited on behalf of Michele Knotz added it to Aliana. --Abcboy (talk) 21:52, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
Showcase
I thought the name origin had to have names that actually relate to the thing in question which is why I undid it. TryPokaron has a different spelling from Triathlon so if anything, saying TriPokalon may be a portmanteau is more likely. So instead of saying it "may be portmanteau", I said it may be "derived from". That name origin fits more for Pokéathlon than for the Showcase anyway.-- --Handmaiden 101 (tAlk) 23:11, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
- トライポカロン and トライアスロン share the "tri-/torai-" and "-ron/-lon" part, so it could be called a portmanteau in Japanese (this also happens in Korean) even though the spelling changes in English (Pocket + Monsters → Pokémon, for example). The "tri-" appears to refer to how three Showcases need to be won to participate in the Master Class rather than how there are three parts like in a triathlon, as shown by the Chinese name referencing the triple crown. --Abcboy (talk) 02:11, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah, I knew what you really meant, it's just that I felt the word "TryPokaron" was off when you said portmanteau. Maybe saying "ToraiPokaron" instead with the Japanese letters would work better?
- I also thought the same with the "Tri" (the 3 keys that is) which is why I also thought the "Ron" part might have been referencing Salon since l's don't exist there (I think the French pronunciation also has Salon) where people get dressed up. Performers and their Pokemon do this for their acts; the Pokemon Styling part relates to that too. This is mostly why I'd like to try and keep "TriPokalon" there too.-- --Handmaiden 101 (tAlk) 05:48, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
Locking Ash's Noivern
Since I happened to see you online (just made an edit), I popped over here to request that Ash's Noivern be locked due to the beginning of an edit war. There's disagreement about whether Noivern "defeated" Zapdos in the recent episode, and despite some of us reverting it, those who feel that Noivern defeated Zapdos refuse to create a talk page for it before they re-add the trivia point. Thanks. ChE clarinetist (talk) 02:18, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
Redirecting
Hi. The problem is, that if you type "Gen VI" in the search tab, it wil redirect to "Generation VI", but if you type "Gen VII", it wil redirect to "Core series" and not to "Generation VII". (How) Can I change it? And if I cannot, can you do it? Thanks! Lokki (talk) 06:34, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hello, I hope that Abcboy won't mind me answering this question, but it can easily be done simply by pressing the (redirected from (what you searched)) that's just under the title of the page when you type in a redirect and then you edit that redirect to direct correctly :) I have allready done this to Gen VII but if you see any more you are very free to go ahead and correct them. --Raltseye 07:35, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
Trade
When a pokémon is evolving by trade, why does the game location section say, that you can have this pokémon by evolving, while you can have this pokémon only by trade? Lokki (talk) 07:56, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
- When you evolve these Pokémon, they have to be traded, but the pre-evolution of the Pokémon still needs to be obtained in a game where it can be obtained. No matter how many copies of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire you have, you can't obtain a Haunter (or a Gengar), so it's clearly not obtainable in those games. Similarly, having multiple copies of X or multiple copies of Y allows you to obtain a Haunter and Gengar, so it has to be available in those games. --Abcboy (talk) 13:49, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

Template:Dungeon infobox
Hello I was wondering what about this template? Should it stay as it is or will you redo the latest change? If it will not be altered could you add links to Monster Houses, Traps, Recruiting, Money in that template? Also when we're at it could you add visibility, sight or something like that which will be how many tiles away the player can see in that dungeon ranging from no shadow to two tiles in corridor to one tile in corridor? --Raltseye 19:58, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- I have added the requested links; however, I would prefer additional discussion on the title of the visibility/sight/something parameter before adding it to the template. --Abcboy (talk) 15:31, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
New movie in Hindi
So, Hungama TV has released a promo for the Hindi dub of M03. The movie will be named Unown का तहलका Unown ka Tehelka (Transaltion: Panic of/about Unown) and will air on 16th April. Should the South Asia page be updated with this information or should we wait until the movie airs? You can watch the promo here. → SuperPikaPool13 11:25, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
- Of course the page should be updated when the promo has aired Abcboy otherwise the page will become outdated. So can you please add that info to that page? --Yash Sen 11:32, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
- Also, in the Trivia section of that page in that line "They also made Pokéraps for the Orange League and Johto League which featured live-action sequences and worked as promos for the upcoming seasons of Pokémon.", can you also add there "They also made a Pokérap for Hoenn League which works as a promo for season 7."? Also in that line "Hungama TV made a Pokéraps as an ending theme for the anime series and the movies." can you remove that "s" from that word "Pokéraps" since only one such Pokérap was made for ending theme? --Yash Sen 11:39, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
Gen III cry order
Hey, I just wanted to let you know that the list I made of the way cries are organized is not exclusive to the leaked beta; it's actually the same in the final version of all Gen 3 games, and I doublechecked via the driver test menu in the final version of Ruby. The two unused cries also remain in the final versions of RS and FRLG (I do not know how to confirm if they are in Emerald, however, since I do not know if that game still has the sound test). So, I think they should perhaps be on the index number page or on their own page, though I can see them remaining where you moved them so long as it's reworded to reflect that. What do you think? - MK (t/c) 16:26, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
- I think rewording it would be fine. IMO it's a relic of development that doesn't really fit with the index number list and isn't quite notable for its own page. It being the same in FRLGE isn't really an issue as we generally don't note that unused content wasn't removed in later games of the same generation. --Abcboy (talk) 16:34, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
Korean ending
Hey Abcboy! Will you be happy to mainspace this? I found some footage at [2] (the 2nd video on the page) confirming the name and artist. Thanks!--Wowy(토크) 06:00, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Since Maverick Nate is apparently on hiatus, I wanted to know if you could take a look at this and tell me whether it can be mainspaced or not. Thank you. MannedTooth (Talk) 18:30, 2 April 2016 (UTC)
- You may also want to check for cards from different expansions by the same artist (such as Chikorita (BREAKpoint 1) and Fennekin (Awakening Psychic King 9)) to add. Unfortunately, I'm not the well versed in the TCG, so you would be better off contacting another admin (perhaps glik) rather than me. You should also add
{{mainspace}}
at the top so that the Editorial Board can eventually consider it. --Abcboy (talk) 19:15, 2 April 2016 (UTC)- Sure, I'll contact him, I know this list isn't complete yet, but I've added every card on the wiki that mentions it by researching "narrative". Thanks for your advice. MannedTooth (Talk) 19:18, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Season 7 on Hungama TV
So they have started airing the episodes of S07 in a 8 PM time slot from the episode AG080. Can you please update the South Asia page with this info? --Yash Sen 18:16, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
- Add a line like "The channel changed the airing time of the show to a 8:00 pm timeslot". → SuperPikaPool13 09:18, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- The channel has return the anime to the 6:30 PM timeslot. Should the page be changed immediately or should we wait until the season airs, so that if there are any more changes in the timings then all can be added at once?? → SuperPikaPool13
Hey, now that M03 has premiered on Hungama TV, the page should be updated with this info. The complete name of the movie is "Pokémon The Movie - Unown ka Tehelka (Hindi: Unown का तहलका)". Again , the Japanese version was used, opening and ending themes along with some other scenes were skipped. Please update with this info. Thanks in advance. → SuperPikaPool13 09:18, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- But the first 3 sec of the opening theme was however aired. So please add this info too in the page. Thanks in advance! --Yash Sen 11:30, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
The season has aired with episodes from AG085 started airing back in 6:30 pm time slot and they skipped AG084. Can you update the page with this? Also according to this, Hungama TV will complete the initial run of season 7 with AG092 on 28th April this Thursday. It would be better if you add this info too with the other info together so that you will not need to edit the page again so add it in past tense only. --Yash Sen 18:11, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Also, they have made some changes in the dubbing script from AG086 which are the change in the narrator's voice, change in Nurse Joy's dialogues and change in Team Rocket's motto, etc. Can you add this info too? --Yash Sen 18:17, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
List of [insert nationality] Pokémon themes
Hello I was wondering if we are supposed to add transcriptions for all languages that does not use the latin alphabet like Greek, Russian, and Hindi because only Hindi has transcribed lyrics? So should the other as well have that? Also if they do wouldn't it be more reasonable to add the native alphabet first then transcribed to latin letters and then translated? --Raltseye 14:59, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, adding them as hovertext should be fine. Regarding Hindi—from what I understand, the Indian network uses the Latin alphabet to transcribe Hindi, which is why the Hindi itself is placed after it. --Abcboy (talk) 16:12, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
Pokemovies on Disney XD India
Today Disney XD India is going to air aired M01 and M02 of Pokemon. Can you update the page with this? --Yash Sen 06:42, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
- They also aired the movies as same as how Hungama aired the movies. Disney XD also used the same movie logo which Hungama used in movies and they also skipped many scenes including openings and endings in movies and they also aired the original Japanese version of the movies. Can you please update the page with all this? Also there are some more corrections also in that page which should be done. One is in the XY series paragraph where From the middle of the season, Hungama aired the episodes a a part of a block named Pokemon Full On. change that a to as. Also in Trivia, remove that line Pokémon BW: Rival Destinies, Pokémon BW: Adventures in Unova and Pokémon XY: Kalos Quest are the only seasons which have not debuted in South Asia. and also it would be better if in S07 para you change that the narrator's voice to the voice cast for the narrator. Can you please do these following corrections also please? Thanks for all these edits in Advance! --Yash Sen 10:53, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
Four days ago when will you add them? --Yash Sen 06:37, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
So Hungama TV has announced that M04 will air on 28th May 2016 at 1 pm on Hungama as Khatre Ka Jungle. Can you update the page with this also? You can watch the promo here. --Yash Sen 11:00, 14 May 2016 (UTC)
- Also can you add the movie logo too in the article? --Yash Sen 15:03, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

Blaziken Pokkén Page ready for Mainspace?
Well, I can't think of anything major to add to this page, so I think it might be ready for the mainspace, though it maybe a little "rough around the edges" and I can't find any information on the VA, plus it still needs some screenshots I guess. This is the first of many pages I've got for the Pokkén roster, but the others aren't as complete as Blaziken's at the moment. Thank you for your time. ----NateVirus(Talk|Contributions) 05:28, 14 May 2016 (UTC)
- Looks good. I'll note that Bulbapedia generally doesn't italicize the titles of games for whatever reason and that the page could definitely use a screenshot of Mega Blaziken. Unfortunately, I don't really have the authority to approve mainspacing pages; it might be a good idea to bring it up with a member of the Editorial Board so that they can discuss it at some point. --Abcboy (talk) 16:08, 14 May 2016 (UTC)
- Alright, thank you for the help/advice! :D I'll try to run it by them. ----NateVirus(Talk|Contributions) 19:42, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oh and I forgot to mention, about the game titles being italicized, I saw that on some of the character pages for the Pokémon in the Super Smash Bros series so I thought it was alright. :/ But still, thank you very much for the advice! :) ----NateVirus(Talk|Contributions) 19:49, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
You realize that I was quoting the Beeheeyem/Meowth, right?
You deleted:
And the reason Ash & Team Rocket were unaffected is that "idiots are hard to hypnotize".
I watched the episode, and that's what Beeheeyem/Meowth said, word for word. If that's sutill a problem, can you word it better? Unowninator (talk) 21:04, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
- What you added was relatively informal compared to the summary that was already there. If the detail and quote are really relevant to the plot of the episode, something like
The Beheeyem state that the reason Ash and Team Rocket were unaffected is because "idiots are hard to hypnotize".
might be more appropriate. --Abcboy (talk) 22:09, 17 May 2016 (UTC)- Done, thanks. - unsigned comment from Unowninator (talk • contribs)

Updates to the South Asia page
So, the South Asia page needs a few updates.
M04 aired today. Again based on Japanese version, opening and ending skipped, some other scenes cut too. Also, many dubbing errors: Mispronouncations, and Japanese voices of Pokemon.
In the top of the anime section, where channels are listed, Disney XD India should also be listed as Pokémon movies have had many reruns on that channel which is Hungama TV's sister channel.
Also about the toys distributed with Kellogs Chocos, there are 3D models of Pikachu, Kanto Started and Jigglypuff. This info if needed can be added to the merchandise section.
These are all I can think of for now. Please update that page. Thanks in advance. → SuperPikaPool13 09:05, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, there are some more bits of info about that page, but I dont know if they are important or not; can you help me? A Web-Streaming/ Video on Demand service by Viacom 18, which was launched recently, offers Pokemon as one of its shows for kids. It is available in English language only. The first season is completely available, along with some episodes of the first and third seasons. Now, this is the first time Pokemon has been available for web streaming n India, albeit in English. Should this information be added to the South Asia page? You can check it out here.
- Also, Kellogs Chocos now offers Pokemon Evolution Cards with its smaller packs, the merchandise section should be updated right? 10:16, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
New Chinese names of Gen I Pokémon
Are we allowed to edit the Pokémon in Generation I in List of Chinese Pokémon names and their respective pages based on the official press release by Nintendo Hong Kong? — Ruixiang95 16:07, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- For the list itself, that's being worked on at User:Chao/Names. For the individual pages, it's fine but the original name must remain on the page on the line after the new name. Additionally, there are proposals for changing the way we display Chinese, so it might be better to wait. --Abcboy (talk) 16:13, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
Air Continent
Hey abcboy, I was wondering about the artwork that was posted up for Baram Town. According to this website, the map is of Air Continent (風の大陸), but what you're saying is that that's Baram Town. Can I get some confirmation/clarification regarding that? Thanks! ht14 19:14, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
- Baram Town is located on the Air Continent. The image was revealed before Baram Town's name was known, but the image is of only Baram Town. Labeling that image as Air Continent is like labeling that first picture of Lumiose as Kalos. --Abcboy (talk) 19:56, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
Template edit request
Several days ago, images of the trash cans and different colored flowers from X and Y were uploaded to Bulbapedia, so I wondered if those sprites/models/whatever could be added to {{Catch/entry6}}
. Seeing how you seem to have updated the said template in the past as well, I decided to ask you if you could help. I'd be very pleased if this was possible. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 07:13, 12 June 2016 (UTC) PS. It also bugs me that the Gen VI template uses the Gen V surfing sprites. The male Trainer surfing model from X and Y has been on Bulbapedia for months already, but I can understand if we should wait for the female model to be uploaded as well before that part of the template is updated.
"The themes in other languages"
Since you seem to have a better understanding than I do, could you look at the following list of articles and see which pages need changes? I think it would be better for consistency. The list is as follows: Pokémon Theme (OP 1) & Pokémon Theme (OP 17), Pokémon Johto, Born to Be a Winner, Believe in Me, Battle Frontier, We Will Be Heroes, Rival Destinies, and It's Always You and Me --Super goku (talk) 20:57, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- Basically, the singers aren't trivial, but are irrelevant to our page in English. Things involving multiple dubs do fit on the page. --Abcboy (talk) 21:06, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
Korean names
I see that you added international names for the newly-revealed Pokémon, except for Korean names.
They are as follows:
- Tapu Koko = 카푸꼬꼬꼭 Kapukkokkokkok
- Charjabug = 전지충이 Jeonjichung'i
- Vikavolt = 투구뿌논 Tuguppunon
- Drampa = 할비롱 Halbirong
- Bruxish = 치갈기 Chigalgi
- Cutiefly = 에블리 Ebeulli
- Togedemaru = 토게데마루 Togedemaru
- Rockruff and Komala - unknown, as of yet, unfortunately.
Source, in case there's any doubt. I hope that you can add them as soon as possible. --Maxim (talk) 17:41, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

Transliteration or Transcription?
Hello could you tell me the difference between Transliteration and Transcription because I have been using Transcription for Russian Pokémon names and you used Transliteration for the new Pokémon. Which one should we use and why? --Raltseye prata med mej 21:58, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
- transliterate: to write words or letters in the characters of another alphabet
- transcription: the act or process of making a written, printed, or typed copy of words that have been spoken

- The Russian names are not spoken, they are written. Additionally, transcription has no connotation of the alphabet used to write the letters being changed. Transcription refers to when something already in auditory form, such as a speech, is written down. --Abcboy (talk) 00:35, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
- No but the English name is read and then that is written down with cyrillic letters. If the Russian name were to come from how the English name is spelled that would be transliteration, but it's not, it's from how the name is pronounced, that makes it transcription. --Raltseye prata med mej 00:49, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
- Allow me to elaborate this, for instance Tapu Koko is spelled Тапу Коко Tapu Koko in Russian, that is transliteration from the English alfabet letter for letter, but Uxie for instance is spelled Юкси Yuksi that is taken from it's pronounciation, not it's spelling which would then be Уксиэ Uksie. Isn't then Uxie transcribed and Tapu Koko transliterated? --Raltseye prata med mej 17:17, 5 July 2016 (UTC)

Pokémon Go Locations
I have downloaded Pokémon Go, and I would like with permission to start a page (under my name) to keep a track of stuff for Adelaide, South Australia (where I live). I think this would help out a bit. And it is games like these that I'm glad to live in a small city like Adelaide as opposed to a huge one like Sydney. I pity Pokémon fans there, but I envy all the possible Dream Eater (Kingdom Hearts species, not the move) pics that can be taken there. UxieLover1994 (talk) 05:32, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- It's fine for you to create a page in your userspace; however, it will be up to the Editorial Board as to whether it's notable for the mainspace. --Abcboy (talk) 15:09, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
Movie 5 on Disney XD
So M05 is set to premier in India but this time on Disney XD not on Hungama this Friday as Soul Dew Ka Raaz: Latias and Latios. Can you update the SA page with this? --Yash Sen 09:08, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- Updated. --Abcboy (talk) 15:09, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
So this time its conformed that M05 is coming on Hungama TV in 31st July 2016 since they released a promo for the movie this time. So now I think the info should be unhide and should be updated by this info. You can watch the promo here. --Yash Sen 11:11, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

Hello could you delete this page as it is a talk page to a redirect, secondly could you take a look on this template I just made to see if it is appropriate for use or not or if further changes are necessary. --Raltseye prata med mej 15:23, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
- Regarding the first, in order for merges to be properly performed, a admin or higher has to perform the move so that the history is maintained.
- Regarding the template, there are a few redirects and disambigs in there that should be fixed. In addition, the template would be less repetitive if it was grouped by game, rather than by location. --Abcboy (talk) 18:32, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Gates to Infinity map
I was planning to upload the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity world map to the Archives, since it is available in The Spriters Resource, but there are three variations of the map (link). Could you look at it and tell me which one should I upload or upload it yourself, if you want to? Also, what should be the name of the file? There is no consistency in the Mystery Dungeon maps' names. I think File:Mist Continent PMD Gates to Infinity or something like that would be fine. In addition, if you are going to upload, could you run it on PNGMonster first? Thanks (and sorry about my english). --rafael.zinho (talk) 21:55, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Some Pokemon pages able to be moved by ordinary users
I've recently noticed that while most Pokemon species pages are unable to be moved (by ordinary users at least), there are a few that have that option available. The ones that I've noticed are Diggersby, Scatterbug, Espurr, Aromatisse, Slurpuff, Hawlucha, Sliggoo, and Goodra, though there might be more. VioletPumpkin (talk) 04:41, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

List of [language] Pokémon names
Hello, I was wondering why the Lists of other languages Pokémon names have dark colors so that the hoenn box becomes inreadable while the List of Pokémon by National Pokédex number have the colors in light so that you actually can read that? Take List of Chinese Pokémon names#.23302 - .23350 Sableye - Milotic this for example, one cannot read what it says in the the header, while one can do that List of Pokémon by National Pokédex number#Generation III here. Why? --Raltseye prata med mej 08:43, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Chinese games
I am pretty sure that the text of Chinese Sun/Moon is in Mandarin. The language choice doesn't let you choose between Mandarin or Cantonese, it just differentiates between Traditional and Simplified characters, probably meaning that both versions use the same dialect (Cantonese never uses simplified Hanzi, by the way). There is no such thing as "neutral" Chinese, so I think it's safe to assume that the games use Standard Mandarin, for it being the most widely understood written variant of Chinese. The fact that the games are distributed in Hong Kong doesn't change anything, because they're still in Mandarin (just like the games distributed in Poland or Russia are in English, rather than Polish or Russian). So, in my opinion Cantonese can't be considered as a game language. I know that the same names are now used in Cantonese context (I even know there were protests), but since the games are in Mandarin, I think only Mandarin transcriptions should be put in the list, as it is dedicated to in-game languages (that's why we don't put Russian, Thai or pre-SM Chinese names there). I don't want to sound like an expert, though, cause I am not. Perhaps Chaolong will clear things up better. --Maxim (talk) 15:17, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
- The Sun/Moon announcement video has Ishihara speaking in both Mandarin and Cantonese (which isn't particularly strong evidence, but it shows that they aren't completely ignoring Cantonese). I think the comparison to Polish/Russian isn't particularly apt; it's a lot more like Latin American Spanish/Canadian French. In both of those regions, the Castilian Spanish/European French game translations have been used for the last few generations, and we therefore generally mark those translations as unadorned "French" and "Spanish". Also, very few video games are in written Cantonese; most games intended for a Cantonese audience still use vernacular Chinese. In conclusion, although the games are skewed towards Mandarin, the same games are played and read in Cantonese, which makes it a "game language" as much as Latin American Spanish and Canadian French. --Abcboy (talk) 05:03, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- There is no such thing as Cantonese text or Mandarin text, Sun/Moon is will be released in both Traditional and Simplified Chinese. Mainland China uses Simplified characters and read in Mandarin, Taiwan uses Traditional characters and read in Mandarin, while Hong Kong uses Traditional characters and read in Cantonese, also there is no such thing as Standard Mandarin (or Standard Cantonese). There is an unofficial type of text that writes in the way Cantonese is spoken, however it still uses either traditional or simplified characters, and currently there is no (or a very very low number) of games uses that unofficial type of text. Ironically the games actually wont be (or highly unlikely) to be distributed in Mainland China... so does this mean adding Simplified is redundant? Also Hong Kong has pretty much aired all episodes of the anime and movie (up until XY&Z and M19), so it is highly likely that the future Sun/Moon anime (if any) will probably be aired in Hong Kong (& Taiwan) as well, hence it will probably be wise to add them in now. Also, there was an open letter from Nintendo stating their understanding for their negligence of the Cantonese language (the Pikachu incident), hence meaning that the text in the game is indeed meant to be read in Cantonese as well. I don't want to sound rude, apologies if I did, but there is always a misunderstanding for Cantonese/Mandarin/Traditional/Simplified being all mixed up, and I hope I helped clearing it up. -- Tsanger | 留言 08:36, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
Z-Moves
Thanks for adding/fixing the languages there. (I guess it should be official policy for anyone to look at your userpage before creating a new page.) That said, does putting {{mainspace|status=complete}}
on a user page not automatically allow anyone to improve it as if it were in mainspace already (judging from your edit summaries)? I've always assumed it implicitely did. Nescientist (talk) 15:14, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- Generally, most people are fine with other users editing their draft pages. I know that some users are a bit more touchy about their draft pages, though, especially pages that are still incomplete. Since the mainspace template states "Any content changes should be brought up on the talk page for this article", which doesn't explicitly grant any user to edit the page, most of my draft pages have
{{User:Abcboy/Edit}}
so that explicit permission is granted for most edits. --Abcboy (talk) 15:22, 4 August 2016 (UTC)- Thank you. I totally understand it for incomplete pages; if you have something on your mind you want to add at a later date, you wouldn't want anyone to interfere/go in another direction. But if you say it's complete, you basically want it mainspaced that way, and then I believe the article should be treated as if it were in mainspace already. Not totally important, but (unless I'm missing something) you may consider to change the wording/policy at some point. Nescientist (talk) 15:40, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- Because of the template on the top of the page, I was also hesitant to edit the page as I do understand that some users don't like their draft page being touched. The Cantonese romanisation for Gigavolt Havoc should be Jūnggihk Fuhkdahk Kwòhnglèuihsím and Inferno Overdrive should be Chīukèuhng Gihkhaahn Baauyìhmdáan. Some of the romanisations on your user page are also incorrect, but because they are located on your user page, I didn't want to edit it without your consent. Rotom Pokédex should be Loktokmóuh Tòuhgaam (Cantonese) / Luòtuōmǔ Tújiàn (Mandarin), Poké Ride should be Poké Kèhhàhng (or Bóuhó Kèhhàhng). We are currently unsure if 寶可/寶可夢 would be pronounced Poké/Pokémon or Bóuhó/Bóuhómuhng (Cantonese) / Bǎokě/Bǎokěmèng (Mandarin) (I am aware of the current Bulbapedia policy romanising it as Poké/Pokémon... FYI during Nintendo's national championships, it was pronounced Jīnglìhng Bóuhómuhng/Jīnglíng Bǎokěmèng (精靈寶可夢/精灵宝可梦) not Jīnglìhng Pokémon/Jīnglíng Pokémon). Revelation Dance should be Goksíng-jī Móuh.
I am still currently adding romanisation to the Cantonese songs... just a bit busy lately...-- Tsanger | 留言 16:37, 4 August 2016 (UTC)- As for pages in my userspace, I've changed them according to what you said. - I've corrected the offending romanizations. If anything else is incorrect, feel free to correct it. Regarding 寶可/寶可夢, I want to keep how we romanize/translate Chinese, Japanese, and Korean as consistent as possible, because rendering ポケモン as "Pokémon", 포켓몬 as "Pokémon", and 寶可夢 as "Bóuhómuhng/Bǎokěmèng" isn't ideal. --Abcboy (talk) 05:03, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

I'd like to request an additional "Switch leaders" for Allowances in the Template:Dungeon infobox
I apologize if I seem impatient this week. Anyway, in the Red/Blue Rescue team games, some dungeons like Wish Cave and Buried Relic allow the players to switch leaders mid-dungeon, while others like Murky Cave and Uproar Forest don't. I was about to add that for the dungeons which do myself, but this page is protected so I can't add to the template.
I should mention that this would only be for the Rescue Team games, as the Explorers game don't allow switching leaders at all, while the 3DS games always do as long as you're not playing the story. So anyway, is there anything we can do about this? Thanks. Unowninator (talk) 04:11, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- Personally,
{{Dungeon infobox}}
still needs an overhaul for SMD. If there's anything meaningful about which dungeons can have leader switching (like dungeons initially visited as part of the story vs. dungeons that aren't), mentioning it somewhere once might be better than marking it on each page, like marking that Pokémon can only be recruited by Connection Orb on every SMD dungeon page. --Abcboy (talk) 05:03, 5 August 2016 (UTC)- Only *some* of the post-game dungeons allow it. I know Murky Cave and one of the water ones disallow it. Unowninator (talk) 06:07, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
3 questions
Hello, now I have gathered up 3 questions to throw at you so put on your answering hat.
- Is this page (User:Raltseye/List of Russian Pokémon names) not ready for mainspace or is there a specific reason to why it has not been approved?
- In List of [language] Pokémon themes with other alphabets like Russian, Bulgarian, and Greek how should we do with the names of singers? Because I've seen at the Bulgarian they have done it lke this Юксел Ахмедов and at Russian the first song is written in latin and the rest in cyrillic only.
- Why don't we list Minior's core in other languages at Minior's page?
--Raltseye prata med mej 06:23, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
- The Editorial Board needs to approve the mainspacing of most pages. I'd recommend asking a member of the Editorial Board to consider it at their next meeting.
- It should be <other alphabet> <English name> like we do with most other languages. I'll note that since the singers may have English names they'd prefer to use, it doesn't necessarily need to match up with the Cyrillic, etc.
- Minior's core hasn't been referred to on the official site formally, unlike Oricorio's forms, for example. Things like "Minior has a hard and heavy outer shell with a core inside it." aren't ideal to try and pick out its proper name. When we get names used in-game, we'll be able to pick out its proper name.
- --Abcboy (talk) 07:22, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
- Minior's core has been referred to in the video.

Template:Translation notice improvement suggestion
Hello, I was thinking of a way that we can improve this template, and that is by making it so that the language specified in the template shows up in the category instead of listing them there by name. That way people can watch the category and see if there's something in their language to translate. What do you think? --Raltseye prata med mej 08:34, 21 August 2016 (UTC)
- The headers in categories can only display one letter, so it would only display the first letter of the language, which wouldn't be helpful to new users trying to use the category. You can use the search functionality to generate a similar list, so I don't think it's necessary. --Abcboy (talk) 18:52, 21 August 2016 (UTC)
- Oh okay, thank you for your quick reply anyway. :) --Raltseye prata med mej 08:35, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

There doesn't really seem to be a place to ask this, but I thought maybe you would know: Is it intended that they don't necessarily match the {{PSMD locations}}
order? For example, Gentle Slope Cave links to Mystical Forest (and vice versa), not to Showdown Mountain (as it does in the German wiki). Even if it's somehow story related, is that also what it should be? Nescientist (talk) 17:13, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- The PrevNext should be in order of storyline progression; the nav template is in the in-game order when selecting a dungeon. Since there are multiple continents, the storyline progression order certainly isn't fixed; perhaps an official guide or something of the sort has an official order including the dungeons not part of the main story. If that order doesn't exist, the game order in the template should be fine. --Abcboy (talk) 17:31, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- Ok, then I'm not gonna adjust PrevNexts for cases like Gentle Slope Cave. Thanks. Nescientist (talk) 17:39, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

I think either one of these would be much more convienient for the reader. So my question is, why do we keep it the way we have and why can't we change it to one of these? --Raltseye prata med mej 10:05, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

"Not a Pokémon"
About that Salveyo weed Pokédex entry, I am fully aware that it's not a Pokémon, but that's not why I re-added it there. Now the footer states reads "This concludes the original series" instead of "This concludes the entries from the original series," which in my eyes is far more accurate. Is it just me, or should this be fixed after all? I didn't want to start an edit war, which is why I came here first. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 15:24, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

Generations Episode Template
How did you use the new episode template for the new Pokémon Generations episodes? When I tried it defaulted everything to the Japanese airdate, etc. --HoennMaster 03:19, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
{{New episode}}
shouldn't be used for special episodes, because it's specifically for normal, main series episodes. For the other episodes, the page can be created based on the previous episode, etc. --Abcboy (talk) 03:37, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
Thanks and questions
I saw that you fixed an {{Animedexbody}}
-related red link I had added. Thanks for that! Also, in one episode, Khoury's Pokédex lists the moves his Croconaw knows. Is this too specific for this individual Croconaw to be on the main page, or should the red link be fixed with this one, too? I mean, Psyduck also has its attacks listed in the Pokédex, but is this the same thing? They both list moves they can learn via level-up, but I just wasn't confident enough. And even if it was notable enough, the red link would need to be fixed. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 05:27, 9 October 2016 (UTC) PS. Sorry for rambling...
Russian names
Hello saw that you added a lot of name origins on the new Pokémon and just wanted to say that neither Hakamo-o, Kommo-o, nor Tsareena are transcriptions of their Japanese name but rather transcriptions of their English names. It would be nice if you could change this. Thank you in advance. --Raltseye prata med mej 21:43, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
No headbutt tress on Routes 45 and 46 in Gen II
Hello,
There are no (small) headbutt trees in Gen II on Route 45 and 46. There are large trees but they cannot be headbutted in Gen II. As such am removing references to Pokémon attainable by headbutting trees on these routes. I have edited the pages: Headbutt_tree, Spearow, Aipom, Heracross and Route 45, and I'm just trying to remove the headbutt section of the table in the Route 46 page, and the system has identified the action as harmful and said to contact an admin.
I hope I'm doing the correct thing on putting this on your talk page, I'm fairly new to editing Wikis.
Thanks KingHelps (talk) 12:46, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
- I've taken care of it. I think there is data for headbutt encounters there, but the game just doesn't have any trees you can use to find them. For whatever reason, those have been on the page for some while, but when I tried to fix them up a while ago, I also neglected to check that the encounters were actually possible, so that's partially my bad. Tiddlywinks (talk) 12:57, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for this. The last (I think?) page that may need updating is http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Appendix:Gold_and_Silver_walkthrough/Section_13 . Shall I do this or would you like to? Thanks KingHelps (talk) 13:06, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
- I got it, just in case the wiki would have stopped you again. FYI, this probably has to do with your un-autoconfirmed status. In short, if just you continue editing, after a while you shouldn't have this particular trouble any more. Tiddlywinks (talk) 13:12, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

M06 on Hungama
So M06 is coming on Hungama TV on November 6 2016 as Jirachi Ka Wonder. Can you add this info in SA page? --Yash Sen 19:05, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
3 Questions for you
Better ask while my brain is fresh and my thoughts are in the right place.
1. I have made an improved version of the Mystery Dungeon items template in my user space on request from Glik could you update the page with the corresponding changes?
2. HarmoKnight: do we need a list of enimies/heroes/characters in that game because the information we have now is a little sparse and are all contained on one page?
3. I have made a list of Pokémon by release date I was mainly wondering if such a page is warranted and needed. I have only filled in the Pokémon from Gen VII as those are all I know so tell me your thoughts.
--Raltseye prata med mej 18:52, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
- 1. Changed.
- 2. I don't think it's necessary; compare to Super Smash Bros. which only lists non-Pokémon playable characters.
- 3. While it may be useful, I'll note that historically and even today, Pokémon have been revealed in CoroCoro and other printed sources, which don't necessarily have an explicit date. I'm not sure that the date a Pokémon was revealed would be as clear as necessary for a table to work. --Abcboy (talk) 22:07, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
- 1. Thank you (you can delete the page in my user space as well if you like)
- 2. Okidoki
- 3. Hmm I agree you can delete it then. --Raltseye prata med mej 22:26, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
List of [insert language] Pokémon themes structure
What do you think of the current structure for these pages take List of Swedish Pokémon themes for instance, I think it looks weird that the openings are their own sections and the endings are in their own section. I suggests moving all the openings to one section with each song as an subsection that just like we for endings. What do you think, should I do that? --Raltseye prata med mej 13:29, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
- It should be fine, just make sure it's consistent between the theme pages. --Abcboy (talk) 13:37, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you, that's what I wanted to do so I will change them all now to the new standard. --Raltseye prata med mej 13:49, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
New episode template colors
Can you change the new episode template so it uses the proper colors for the other languages (which are supposed to match the colors used in the colorscheme templates)? The color 5599CA should be 90BDDC instead. Lady Ariel 01:46, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
Template reviews
Could you please look at the following templates to make sure their code looks good so they can be passed on to be approved? It should be noted the Wonder Card and the Wonder Card list template aren't what the final product will look like, but their code is pretty similar. However it should be noted that for simplicity for review I only have two color options in the Wonder Card template, but there is three in the final. These templates will be needed before the new event pages can be mainspaced (except for the last one).

- They look good, though the readability of the white text on gray isn't optimal. The Furfrou sprites are unlikely to be put in the sprite box, since it would make the template excessively long. --Abcboy (talk) 01:19, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- The white text on gray won't be a problem in the version based on the game (since like I said this is just placeholder code so it can be looked at until the actual colors and text layout can be added on Friday). As for Furfrou, that would seem inconsistent with all other alternate forms (which show sprites for all of them), although I suppose to make it much smaller all but the Normal Shiny sprite could be removed. Can you pass the templates on to the other staff to look at and approve? Lady Ariel 01:29, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- The staff have capped the length of the sprite box to that of Rotom (seven forms). I'll note that Pokémon like Unown and Arceus do not display all the sprites for their forms either. I have passed on the event templates to the other staff. --Abcboy (talk) 01:41, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. Hopefully they will be approved by Friday. Also by any chance can you add the Japanese distribution text that is missing on List of local event Pokémon distributions in Generation VI (I know you added some before, and all of the links to the text is in the incomplete template)? Regarding the current edits of the Sun and Moon Player Characters (Names)
Hi I am VERY new and made a username just to contact you. I hope to not overstep my boundaries here, as you seem to be a very respectable member of this community, but I just have some concerns when it comes to the official names of the Sun and Moon protagonist. So here goes. I have been naming my player character the official name since I started playing HG/SS. So, when SM recently dropped I was eager to see when the bulb would update with the names of the male and female player character (naturally bulb=num1 source). It has almost been a month now, and just recently you have updated the names to both "Sun" and "Moon" (you seem to be the main editor of those pages in question) Now, I have to wonder if instead the names "Kai" and "Pua" are better fits, even if just speculation as I have a few bits of evidence to support why, based on your trivia edits to these name pages. Now, originally you say that unused data within the game confirms that they are referred to as "Kai" or "Lana". Which would make sense, considering it fits a "theme" if you will that being of water or floating in the ocean etc. We have seen this before, with Dawn/Lucas = Light and Calem/Serena = Calm/Serenity. However a slight problem was proposed as the name Lana is as I am sure you are aware, a trial captain. BASICALLY Pua as a female name fits the bill of a Hawaiian female given name, meaning floating, rising, and Flower (like her hat) and Kai Pua and Hau are all three letters... okay Im sorry if I wasted your time. Im new and this was way to long, hm. pls respond.
TL;DNR - "Sun" and "Moon"? Not likely. "Kai" and "Pua"? More likely.

- We can't assign names based on what we'd like, or what names we come up with that are thematically fitting. In the official trailers, as well as the demo, the names Sun and Moon have been used. --Abcboy (talk) 04:30, 9 December 2016 (UTC)

New episodes on DXD India
So after the initial run of ep057 on 28th October 2016, Disney XD India put the show on hiatus for 1 and half months. As per this, they will continue the show with ep052. Can you update the SA page with this? Better add it in the past tense so that there will be no need to edit it again. Also it would be better if you remove the line in the s01 para reruns of the first five episodes aired on August 21, 2016; since they air new 5 episodes every Sunday before their initial run on the channel and also add a line like Disney XD India started to rerun the same Hungama dub Pokémon episodes from Indigo League in August 2016. after the line The show was continued by the channel with Advanced Generation series starting in September 2015. in the top of the page and also can you add the date August 7, 2016 in EP001 in the table at the top of the page? Also m06 aired on Hungama on November 6, 2016. Again Japanese version, the opening credits were aired but ending was skipped. Can you update the page with this? Also please add the movie logo too there. --Yash Sen 17:42, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
Doesn't is seem like all the detailed info is being added to the page? As per the higher admins, that page is just as a summary for the information. So just a overview of the informarion should be fine. Anyway, the Hindi title of the movie should also be added: (Hindi: Jirachi का वंडर). Better add this when the movie logo image has been renamed, so that that can be done in a single edit. Also, since the Disney XD airings are just reruns, in my opinion they do not need to be in the table. - unsigned comment from SuperPikaPool13 (talk • contribs)
- It is reruns for the Hungama dub but since it's on a different channel hence its initial run on that channel. Hence its necessary for its debut date on Disney XD to be in table. --Yash Sen 07:16, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
- But it's the same dub. CN dub initial dates are in the table. But when CN dubs reruns aired on Pogo, that dates are not necessary for the table. Similarly, Hungama dub initial date is the debut on Hungama TV only and not Disney XD. Anyway, let the admins decide. → SuperPikaPool13 07:30, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Request
Could you please do something about user Pikablu. He keeps unnecessarily undoing my edits for no reason. For example, he undid my edit which deleted the word "Gooey" from Goomy's name origin, since I knew that it was already deleted before, since "Goo" is already listed. He deleted my edit in which I corrected an improper use of grammar and he just undid my edit where I reverted a users edit, in which the user added a second link to the same episode on Alain's Charizard's page and we don't need two links to the same episode, especially when both links are in two paragraphs that are right near each other. I believe this user is targeting me and I would like for you to stop these actions. Playerking95 (talk) 18:35, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
- Please try to work out those reversions with Pikablu on their talk page. If you can't come to an agreement or don't get a response, contact me then. --Abcboy (talk) 03:18, 24 December 2016 (UTC)
- Fine, but could you at least for now change the edit on Alain's Charizard's page back. Playerking95 (talk) 06:04, 24 December 2016 (UTC)
Mega Stone article - Language section
Hi. Do we need the Specific names of each individual stones in other languages for Mega Stone. I actually finish doing the whole table. I'm using the table similar to the ones used in Nature and Characteristic. I'm just wondering if we need to add it in, because the list is quite long. Or I know there's a template which can "hide" a table and able to press "show" for the thing to open up. But I have no idea what is the code to do it. Or I should just add it in straightforwardly. — Ruixiang95 19:53, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
- Honestly, I think a main article link to the appropriate section on the List of items in other languages should suffice, like we do with Berry. For future reference,
class="expandable"
is the code you're looking for. --Abcboy (talk) 23:44, 26 December 2016 (UTC)- Just wanted to ask, can I might as well save it since I actually spent a long time doing it (I never flip through the articles beforehand :( ). And for the "List of" article you mentioned above, and all following Lists articles, do they want both Traditional and Simplified Chinese, but I know we have to put both Pinyin and Yale pronunciation. — Ruixiang95 12:51, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
Pokemon Theme
For EP059 and EP060 the TV episodes used a short 30 sec opening. Source is this and this. Also Disney XD India also aired it like that only hence production wise those two episodes have short opening. --Yash Sen 14:58, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
- G50 has checked the DVDs for the episodes, and they use the full opening. However, I've checked Pokémon.com, and those airings use the short opening. Given this, you can add it to the page, but avoid explicit episode ranges (use "Short version" as the section header, and put prose to the effect of "A shorter, 30-second version is used in some airings of EP059 and EP060" before the lyrics). --Abcboy (talk) 04:41, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
"Regular users should not be editing the MOS"
Sorry, I'm still new here. I thought that since my edits did not affect the actual policy or what is required of editors, but merely corrected a factual error, it would be acceptable. Could you elaborate on how I would go about requesting an admin to correct the error in question, if I am not permitted to do so myself? Satorukun0530 (talk) 11:49, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
By the way, much of the relevant text in Bulbapedia's MOS (related to romanizing Japanese words, Japanese naming order, etc.) appears to have been directly copy-pasted from an old version of English Wikipedia's MOS, which was drafted by a random selection of Wikipedia editors and sees frequent changes by the same editors (including myself, under my Wikipedia username). Satorukun0530 (talk) 11:52, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
I should also specify that the reason I came across the page in the first place was because I was trying to figure out why Bulbapedia uses non-systematic romanization in some cases (names of Pokemon), in some cases uses standard Hepburn (most other instances where Japanese text is present), and in some places uses (Wikipedia-based) formatting for Japanese text followed by what should be a romanization but is actually a translation (see, for instance, the page on みねうち). I find it somewhat odd that our MOS doesn't clarify whether this last category is just an error to be rectified; it probably should, but I already knew it probably wasn't my place to add that to the MOS page directly without some form of discussion first. Satorukun0530 (talk) 12:11, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Generally, leave a message on the policy page's talk page or on the talkpage of a member of the Editorial Board if there's an error or if there's a change that should be made.
- Most pages actually use a translation after the Japanese in italics (Bonnie, Kanto Route 1, EP001, Pound, Drizzle, etc.) The only pages which actively use romanized text are mostly Japanese song lyrics. (In short, the romanization policy isn't relevant to most pages since what belongs in the lead sentence is a translation rather than a romanization. The prevailing style is that of including translations rather than romanizations, and the relevant policy pages should probably be updated to that effect.) --Abcboy (talk) 15:14, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Why the italics, though? That really looks like another borrowing from Wikipedia, where it is explicitly used for romanized Japanese text (which is in turn based on common English writing practice).
- It also seems redundant to give a translated title that is the same as the official English title, to the point that telling our readers how to read the Japanese title would probably be more useful, and translations should be reserved for when the English title is not already a translation.
- Someone else brought up something similar to this on the talk page of BP:ROMANIZATION six years ago and no one ever got back to them; are all these decisions made by the editorial board?
