Meltan

XD is not a main core series game... XD is a side series game. New generation Pokémon are never introduced in a main CORE series games in the prior generation.

Meltan cannot be a gen 8 pokemon as it was introduced in gen 7 and is set to appear in a gen 7 game (lets go).

The generation a Pokemon is from is defined by the generation it first appears in.

How can a gen 8 pokemon appear in a gen 7 main series game? Victini never appeared in a gen 4 main series game.

Nevertheless, I'll leave the page as it is due to the lack of agreement among the community Kahchun (talk) 01:54, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Platinum Sinnoh Dex

Where are you getting the Pokédex numbers you've been adding? If you're just guessing or assuming, then that's really not an acceptable excuse. Flicky1991 20:29, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

  • I'm getting them from Serebii.net, where several people have been playing the game as we speak. Chosen of Mana
Yeah, I've seen that now. Sorry, but I assumed you were another one of the idiots we get on here who adds completely random stuff. Obviously I was wrong, and I apologise for that. :) Flicky1991 21:43, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Do you mean Fire Fang bypasses Wonder Guard when used against a Pokémon which has Wonderguard but isn't weak to Fire? --Raijinili 08:29, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Template:User Anime

I had to revert your edit there because it destroyed the template loop. Not entirely sure what that means, but it stopped the template from forming on everyone's pages. If you were trying to create a new template, you'd do best to start from scratch rather than try and put it on an existing page as each template page can only handle one template (unless you're a master of coding and can do some kind of "switch" thing). If you're confused I can find you an expert to talk to, but I hope I've made this clear. Sorry for any inconvenience! — THE TROM — 20:16, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

2 things

  1. Don't capitalize the first letter of every word in a section title.
  2. Pokémon is not spelled "Pokemon", it's "Pokémon".

Project Locations

Heya, Coffee. First, just letting you know that the Project Locations has changed quite a bit recently due to the instructions of the new Project Leader, me. The project has been updated and visually redesigned to make it easier to process. Little tasks and goals have been added to project page to make things run better and to help expand location articles. If you have any suggestions, inquiries, or questions, please don't hesitate to ask on the talk page.--Clarky13 11:47, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Signature

You may have fixed this already, but there is excess coding in your signature that turns the rest of the page pink. This link shows what you may need to remove. Thanks! — THE TROM — 01:31, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi

I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot recently. You may not be aware of this, but Bulbapedia has a Userspace policy that asks users to try and minimize the number of userspace edits they make in a short period of time. Heavy editing of these personal pages can put undue stress on the server, so please leave your page alone for now and go help out in the mainspace. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, after all, so please help us to complete it! If you edit the mainspace more often, you will be allowed to edit your userpage more often too. Thanks! --—darklordtrom 22:49, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Held items

Thanks for your help. Just make sure that they actually can be caught within the game or can be considered a wild Pokémon (such as in the Battle Pyramid). ht14 22:57, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

cards pokédex data

Only change the template if you get the Japanese dex entry. Not all cards have them, and they need to be retrieved when the template is changed, in order to ensure we get them all. MaverickNate 15:16, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Cards by Pokémon

I'm doing these all by myself this time. Thank you for understanding. MaverickNate 20:34, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Something to note

If you are doing any of the wild Pokémon template redesigns relating to Generation II then you should know that the Kanto Grass does not show up in any of the Kanto locations if you use the (all=) coding if followed by the (k) coding. Just want to make sure if you are aware since it is a problem I ran into last night with both previewed and saved versions. -Tyler53841 18:30, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

-moz to roundy

Would you mind using the roundy template instead of using just -moz? There's an example here As you can see it takes off a chunk of code if you do this, and it shows up roundy in browsers that support it. Jellotalk 17:37, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi

May I inquire as to why you're changing all the archetype lists from the decklist entry format to the setlist entry format? --P o L i 18:18, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Ah, well I though it was going to replace it in its entirety, so I was "upgrading" them. If it isn't supposed to be used that way, could you tell me set list should be used? - Chosen of Mana 21:53, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Usertag images

If you're going to change the images on usertags, it would be ideal if you also set up a parameter to make the image selectable by the person using the tag. There's a lot of stuff that needs doing in the mainspace, which makes usertags an extremely low priority. Unless the tag is broken & needs updating or if the tag has a large request for an update, I'd have to ask that you keep focused on the content areas of Bulbapedia. Thanks, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 14:29, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Manga Pokemon images.

Thank you for adding those to the articles. But, if it's not too much trouble, could you try and use ones that aren't from Pokemon Adventures? That manga gets far too much focus as it is, and it'd be much better if we use some of the pictures from manga such as Pokemon Pocket Monsters, DPA, or the Electric Tale of Pikachu... Ataro 17:15, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm trying to do that when applicable, but DPA and the like just don't have the wide variety of pictures available. - Chosen of Mana 17:35, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Well, for starters, could you tell me whete I can find these conventions? - Chosen of Mana 21:39, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

So you want me to enter trainer data on those pages? Anything else? You wouldn't happen to know where we can get some clean art, because I am fresh out of ideas lol. - Chosen of Mana 00:57, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm not really sure where one goes for art. What kind of stuff are we missing? For the Trainer classes, do you understand the way I set up Cipher Admin? Tooltips

You seem to be both online right now and considerably more Wiki-savvy than I, so I was hoping you could help me. I tried to add tooltips into the Monster Brain article. I couldn't find anything about tooltips in the Bulbapedia Help page, so I tried to imitate the formatting from articles such as N, but it doesn't seem to be working; hovering over the underlined text I added doesn't bring up anything like it does on other articles. Could you please tell me what I did wrong so I can fix it/not make that mistake again? Thanks :) Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 02:18, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

The cause of the problem were the used of quotation marks (" ") in the tooltips. For one reason or another, they do not mix together, and therefore will not produce a tooltip when hovered over. - Chosen of Mana 02:25, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

What to do in this case? :c Marked +-+-+ (talk) 14:23, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

It sucks, but we'll probably want to delete the ones you uploaded. I've already replaced those sprites with the ones that already exist. Keep the in-battle sprites for Generations I, II, and IV. Those ones are fine. - Chosen of Mana 16:09, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Okey. We will need to get some uploading still, as I can't see in-battle the Johto Poké Balls + Dream Ball, and Lure Ball as I said earlier - it changed color in Generation V, so likely both status and battle updated the color. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 16:29, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

The locations appear in episodes that use the Unova 2/Season 2 color scheme. You can find this kind of behavior with Kanto locations in the anime:
- Chosen of Mana 23:31, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Custom PSS Icon

How did you get your custom PSS icon to show up on your userpage? I'm trying to get mine to show up as an image in a usertag I'm using, but it isn't working. Can they even work as an image in a usertag, or do they only work when not used in a usertag? By the way, funny that we both named our Gogoat the same thing (and we both have Greninja & Charizard). Torpoleon (talk) 21:02, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

You're supposed to put the icon on an image hosting service like Tinypic or Imgur and post the image URL on your page. This means that it will not work with pre-existing usertags. You CAN, however, take the coding of a usertag, such as {{User XY}}, and paste it on your userbar. Make sure to take any existing parameters such as {{{moz|}}} - Chosen of Mana 22:02, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Newbie question about images

Hi Chosen,

I am a new user and just registered my account. I have a question about using images on Bulbapedia and Archives:Image use policy doesn't really answer my question. For articles about cards from the Pokemon TCG, should an image of an english card version be used if one is available? Is an english version preferred over a japanese version? Furthermore, is it okay to use an image from a third party site and upload it? For example, would it be okay to upload this image in order to replace a:File:MoltresexNintendoPromo31.jpg in Moltres ex (Nintendo Promo 31)? (Can I even do this, technically, or does my account first need to be autoconfirmed or something similar?) Regards. Gengar321 (talk) 08:11, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

While I'm not as versed in TCG guidelines as some other members, I believe English cards should take precedence over Japanese ones. At the same time, I'd advise you take that link and contact one of the active admins found on the Project TCG page; we have been warned against taking certain other websites' content in the past, and TCG content is no different. If that image hasn't been uploaded to the archives already, there might be a reason. - Chosen of Mana 12:40, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
Okay, I will follow your advice and contact one of those admins then. Thank you for your help and advice. Regards. Gengar321 (talk) 20:34, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Availability template switch

So, with the switch from the old Availability template to the new one, are you using a set color for the Pal Park background? Because it seems the old template was using locationcolor/med|land, but I'm seeing different colors around the site with the new template (like a hardcoded #71AD64). Not entirely sure if I should be using a set color or not, or if it depends on the species. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 19:11, 4/25/2014 (UTC)

The old availability template changed the Pal Park's slot's color depending on the area. I was trying to match that. For example, since Tentacool is found in the sea, I used locationcolor/light|ocean as the color. - Chosen of Mana 21:12, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

Magma "team color change"?

I'm wondering where you got the idea that there's some sort of color change for Team Magma I'm not the sort to keep up with every bit of news, and from a quick look around, I don't see anything. Tiddlywinks (talk) 21:46, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

See the Team Magma page. For a while now, the information template has been using "ground color" as opposed to "fire color". - Chosen of Mana 00:18, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
Okay. I was looking around the wiki some more later and figured that might be what you meant, whereas before I thought you were referring to ORAS, so I was rather lost. =P I guess neither color scheme is exactly official, but I do like it better with ground color. Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:31, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

Curious

I saw your edits to the Clemont's Pokémon template and am wondering something. In the anime, it's been demonstrated that a trainer can only have six Pokémon. How can Clemont have ownership of all six of his and still have Dedenne for Bonnie? Does his Gym team join him after the Gym battle, forcing him to store one, or does Dedenne appear to be a special case? CycloneGU (talk) 15:43, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

Technically, the only Pokémon in Clemont's party right now are Bunnelby, Dedenne, Chespin, and Luxray. However, since Clemont currently has access to his Gym Pokémon, they count as "Active" Pokémon in his roster. It's a case similar to Misty. - Chosen of Mana 16:37, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

Ash's Pokémon Template

Do you think you can fix the Ash's Pokémon Template? I don't think I did it right. Seabiscuit (talk) 16:33, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

I don't see any problems, but the template should be a reflection of the list of Pokémon on the main Ash page. I'll give you the chance to change the page, but you should include your reasoning in the Summary slot. - Chosen of Mana 17:00, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Route 14 in the anime

I prefer to stay away from the anime stuff because I'm not really familiar with it, but I was wondering if you could help me understand the recent edit you made to Route 14. I've noticed these anime sections being expanded recently, and if I understand the purpose, the Pokemon section (under In the anime) for Route 14 is supposed to identify the Pokemon found there, correct?

But you changed Goomy to Goodra. And, as near as I can tell, Goodra aren't found there, that's just the home Ash's Goodra had when it was a Goomy. Is there a reason it really should be Goodra and not Goomy?

I'm also wondering if Ash's Goomy was the only Goomy in Route 14, or if there were others. It would seem to me that if Ash's Goomy wasn't the only Goomy we know that lived or lives there, then I think it shouldn't show/link to Ash's Goodra/Goomy specifically, it should show/link to generic Goomy. Tiddlywinks (talk) 12:59, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Goomy was recently changed to Goodra because Ash released it to return to its homeland. There haven't been other Goomy shown living there, either. - Chosen of Mana 13:38, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
I see. Thanks! Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:00, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

"Fall 2015"

I happened to see this edit in the history and took a look, experimenting in preview mode. When I tried "March 2015", it changed the date in the end column to say it was 62 days since the Japanese airing, which shows that the table problem comes from that column. It also means using a month and year calculates in the final column based on the first day of the month. "Fall", however, isn't a calendar month. This is why the last column indicated an unexpected parameter. The only way to solve that problem is to have each seasonal period be treated as a calculable value in the calculations (fall for instance could be September 21). Since I can't edit the template to add something like that - and don't know if it's even possible, anyway! - we can't use do that.

How that enlarged the image? I have an idea. I tested by modifying the line for SS32 to say Fall 2015. The image in that row expanded the same way. I suspect that what happens is any row formatting is disregarded if the row can't be properly completed, and any formatting that might shrink the image thus gets thrown out because the table row is not properly completed. I've forgotten a table ending tag before and ended up having nested tables; that was a bit of a mess...

I would suggest that with the final column acting that way that it would be best to put nothing but an actual date in the previous column. Not because of the image problems, but rather to prevent breaking the table. CycloneGU (talk) 06:19, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

I agree. It appears to be an oversight within the template itself. Even if I could edit it, I don't know how any edits would affect any working uses of the template. It's best to air on the side of caution in this case. - Chosen of Mana 14:41, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Yay

Beauty, was just about to look at that and you beat me to it. Should we expand the column slightly, however, or is it fine like that? CycloneGU (talk) 03:29, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

It looks fine to me, personally. Thanks for your hard work! - Chosen of Mana 03:30, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Abcboy lowered them to a quarter size, so yeah, it looks better now to me as well! CycloneGU (talk) 03:33, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Am I Guessing,...

...you don't have the ability on this side to edit templates? I asked Glik if he could edit Template:Spritebox/3 as the GIF images for Emerald all now have replacements at Archives, but he said he prefers Archive staff handle them. So I'm poking you. =) But being Archives staff, I realize, does not mean template editing abilities where images are involved, so might you be able to co-ordinate activities with him or another staffer for all of the new images in place for Emerald? See the upload log at Archives; I helped tag for deletion the GIFs from around 213 to the end. CycloneGU (talk) 04:18, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Changes to Templates

When working on a significant potential change to a template, it's highly advised that you create the updated template on a subpage in your userspace and thoroughly test the changes. If your changes cause the code to break, or act unexpectedly, you won't accidentally cause problems on articles where the template is already in use. Thanks, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 22:00, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello, MannedTooth! The best thing I would suggest is to copy that template to a subpage under your User: name. (e.g. "User:MannedTooth/Template:NameGoesHere") Once you've done that, add <noinclude>{{Template:Mainspace|Template|status=complete}}</noinclude> to the top of the page and create it. After that, Staff members will evaluate the template and determine if it can be moved to wiki proper. - Chosen of Mana 22:52, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Dragonite Incinerate

I uploaded a picture of Dragonite using Incinerate on the archives, so that it may be used on Incinerate's page on Bulbapedia. But when I go to Incinerate's page, it displays no image and asks for an upload. Even so, if I try to preview the page, the picture is displayed. I tried to solve the problem but failed. So I would request you to see into the problem and solve it if you can. Thanks in advance! Harryghost (talk) 12:28, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Never mind! Apparently, the picture is now being displayed properly on the move's page without a problem. Harryghost (talk) 17:34, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Regarding changes in XY122

Hey Chosen, you are not new here. Don't you know that whenever you edit you need to write the reason in summary box. Well, I am new here and starting to get sick of other users. My first article was totally removed saying poorly written and incomplete plot.I accept poorly written as a good reason but incomplete, why there are many articles having incomplete plot. Besides it could have been improved instead.I let it go. Afterwards I tried wrote complete plot of XY 122. But others keep on correcting according to their own views. When Ash was little confused somebody corrected he was determined. Now you changed it back to how it was. I wrote Pikachu's lower body became frozen it was corrected to be additional effect of move now you say it became numb, although I agree with you on this point, I was not able to find a proper word when I wrote. I appreciate your editing and making article more perfect, but you edited it too much and that's what I am mad about. Anyway I let it go but tell me to edit on my talk gotta fly instead of editing almost half of the article. And remember to write reasons for your edits always. Pokemon master sachin (talk) 16:58, 6 June 2016 (UTC)

First, I apologize if my intentions were unclear. While your edits to XY122 were appreciated, I felt the summary could have been expanded, proofread, and reworded to make it flow better. As for the editing itself, please bear in mind that, like any wiki, any and all edits may be edited, altered, or removed by other contributors. In that regard, Bulbapedia is no different. - Chosen of Mana 17:11, 6 June 2016 (UTC)

Digital-exclusive singles

Hi, I noticed that the recent one-off ending themes have been made available exclusively for digital download:

Do these singles meet the threshold of notability for inclusion? Chenzw (talk) 17:35, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

It would be difficult to make dedicated pages just for these singles, especially because there will be a additional volume to Pocket Monsters XY&Z TV Anime Character Song Project Collection Volume 1. Waiting for that second volume seems more viable. - Chosen of Mana 23:03, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

Drag

Do you by any chance know why can't I upload pictures on the archives and could help me out with the predicament? :/ ShallowShaddoll (talk) 15:55, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

It's likely you can't upload because you are not yet autoconfirmed. - Chosen of Mana 16:07, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
Can you upload this picture as the new picture for Ash's Talonflame?--ShallowShaddoll (talk) 09:10, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
Sorry, anime screenshots should be .pngs, not .jpgs. - Chosen of Mana 14:14, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
Can you unlock the file name so I could add it myself then? I can't upload it to imgur as the website changes the file to .jpg on its own (I uploaded it as a .png) Unless you can change the file yourself (using MS Paint or Photoshop). I just figure that this picture would be better than the current one as this one shows Talonflame's talons and a bigger widespread of the actual body.--ShallowShaddoll (talk) 15:42, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
After reviewing the frame with other staff members, we decided that the picture would not be worth the upload because of the lighting. In addition, the new picture, while showing Talonflame's talons, cuts off its wings. If we were to upload a new version of File:Ash Talonflame.png, we would prefer a complete, full-body shot. - Chosen of Mana 16:01, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

Alola Form question

I see that on all the Alola Form species pages, you just added the line "In Alola, (X) have a regional variant..." Shouldn't this be has, for the same reason that we use the singular in the Biology sections? Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 16:07, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

Confirm translations Poké Problem

Why confirm translations for SM008 and SM009 but not for others?--PannenkoekenNL (talk) 18:41, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

I have had a Poké Problem page where I has a trusted translator translate the questions up to SM006 themselves. This was to avoid any complications overlapping with any fanwork or fansite that might take issue with the questions. - Chosen of Mana 19:27, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

User-page tables

Hi, about your userpage the tables you have used for your Pokemon teams are awesome. Did you make them or did you get a template from elsewhere for them? If you did would you mind if I used them for my own userpage(you credited if you made them of course). I'm asking in case you did make them and so I would have permission to use them.Nikuriku (talk) 11:28, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

I made them myself. I can certainly give you permission to copy them yourself. - Chosen of Mana 14:53, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Archives

Hi, about the Archives page I've been told by many that to become autoconfirmed and generally help around there that I could "edit tags" and "categorise files" along with delete some categories. Unfortunately I don't know how to use the Archives page at all and I would like to get some things sorted which includes:

  • What it means to edit tags and how to do it?
  • How to categorise files along with add categories to files?
  • How to create and delete categories along with move files between categories?
  • Anything else I could do there while waiting to get autoconfirmed if I ever do?

Thanks ahead.Nikuriku (talk) 07:28, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi Nikuriku. I'll answer your questions in order.
  • Tags come in the form of two different types of templates; ones such as Sugimoriart or Mv that summarize the image in the summary field, and ones such as i-Fairuse-game and I-Fairuse-screenshot-anime that provide copyright iformation of the image under the licensing field. If the image is missing a summary or licencing template, you can add them to the image summary by inserting {{(NAME OF TEMPLATE)}} along with the required information.
  • You can add categories to files by adding [[Category:(NAME OF CATEGORY]] anywhere in the summary. They are typically put at the end. Likewise, you can remove categories from an image by deleting that text. Creation of categories is generally left to admins.

For pages you can watch to easily add input to the Archives, I would go to both special pages and the gallery of new files. If you have anymore questions, be sure to refer to the Archives FAQ. You can find more information about tagging and categorizing there. - Chosen of Mana 17:19, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi, just leaving this message as thanks for helping me regarding the Archives pages. I've become autoconfirmed now all thanks to your help which is greatly appreciated.
Also one more question is how to delete categories altogether as I have moved some images out of categories created as a result of spelling errors e.g. category "Repidash" and due to these types of categories often containing only one image, I feel it would be better to delete them altogether.
However even when taken out of the category, it still is recognsied as being under category Repidash despite not being part of that category anymore.
Another thing I would like to ask is how to rename file names as File:197Espeon Colo.png is actually a picture of an Umbreon.Nikuriku (talk) 10:49, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
I'm happy to help. The "Repidash" category should empty itself out with time, after the servers process the edits you made to the image. As for moving, in the Archives, only Junior Administrators or above can move images. You can add {{move|(TITLE)}} to an article to bring it to the category Candidates for moving, which admins check periodically. You can also contact an admin for assistance. - Chosen of Mana 00:57, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Memory and Plates

Are we doing new item page format for every items? After seeing your work on Drives, I'm tempted to help out too. So do you need to do for Memory and Plates too? Are they roughly the same as for Drives? Or leave it to the staff members?

Secondly, for items such as NeverMeltIce, do we delete the "display=..." or put it as "display=[[Never-Melt Ice|Nevermeltice]]"? (if that make sense?) Thanks. — Ruixiang95 17:58, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Right now, we are focusing on normal and held items. Poké Balls are being put on hold until staff reach a decision on how to handle the present Poké Ball page.
For items that have changed formatting in future generations, please use the "display" parameter as you proposed. - Chosen of Mana 02:03, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
I hope I'm doing the Memories and Nectar articles correctly. And Heart scale currently still link to Exchangeable item. I think you might want to delete it? — Ruixiang95 09:42, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

Missing item pages

Earlier this year, you played a notable role in creating new, individual pages for each item. However, for whatever reason, the work was halted at some point, with some Key Items still lacking individual pages. Has there been any intention in creating these missing Key Item articles? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 05:25, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

As of this point, there is a page for every Key Item mentioned on the Generation-based Key Item Lists. Some key items, such as the Rods and the Fossils, share pages with their counterparts. Actions cannot be taken on these pages without considering how to change the related articles. - Chosen of Mana 14:08, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
Actually, some Key Item pages are still missing. Trust me, I've checked. The Key Items that are still missing their individual pages are the Secret Key (Kanto), pre-Generation VII fishing rods, Egg Ticket, and the Orre-exclusive Key Items. Also, regarding the Fossil pages, there are plans to give each separate Fossil its own page, in case you were unaware of that. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 15:29, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
So... shouldn't these pages be created as well? Not rushing you or anything. Just asking. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 13:47, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
For some of these items, a consensus would need to be reached. "Secret Key (Kanto)", for example, is a mismatch with Secret Key (Generation IV). Moving pages is generally not done without the consensus of several staff members. The fossils, similarly, would likely involve liquidating the paired Fossil pages, which causes infrastructural concerns as we re-link every single instance of the items.
That said, I can probably make the case for the Fishing Rods, given how I handled the Bikes in a similar manner. The Orre Key items are rather self-contained and would require little work to revamp. - Chosen of Mana 14:22, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, I could see the Secret Key page being moved to just "Secret Key" to make it fit both known Secret Keys. Regarding thr fossils, some link splitting has actually already been done in preparation for the split, and overall, the potentially remaining links that still need to be split shouldn't be too overabundant or hard to find. Thanks for agreeing with the fishing rods. And finally, for the Orre key items, I'm not quite sure if I understood what you meant, but I hope they can still be made into articles, for consistency's sake. Also, most of them seem simple enough, so can I make at least some of those articles if I feel like it and have time for it? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:46, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
So? Can I get a permission to create those pages? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:30, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
Just wondering: should the Ein Files from Colosseum have their own combined page, or should each of them get a separate item article? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:16, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
Hello? Did you miss my above and below messages? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:30, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

It's here. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:35, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

(resetting indent)Just to jump in... The "new" image may look nice if you look at it closely at full size, but when you compare it to the current image, it falls short in a couple of (perhaps small) ways. Mainly, it's how, in the current image, Mimikyu is standing straight and facing the "camera" squarely (and centered). In the "new" image, Mimikyu is off-center, facing partly sideways, and bent back so that the ears of its costume aren't shown off fully. Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:30, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

This is important, too. With an imporant image, such as one of a Pokémon belonging to a main character, what's new isn't always what's best. That's why a:File:Ash Pikachu.png was never updated through the course of XY. - Chosen of Mana 01:37, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

I'm not sure if you noticed, but I managed to find a better version of the Amulet Coin picture soon after my above post. And now, I'm here for a request again. I uploaded a new version of a:File:SM098.png, but it has the TVTokyo logo on it. Could you provide a logoless version of the picture for us? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 12:37, 30 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for doing that! Also, something that I've been thinking about: could a part of this shot (i.e. not necessarily this specific frame but some other part of this few-second shot) be better suited to represent Faba's Revenge! and thus be used in a:File:SM050.png instead of the current picture? What do you think? I personally would've already replaced it months ago, but I don't have a high quality, subtitle-less version of that scene at my reach. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:02, 30 November 2018 (UTC)
Two things: 1) I had actually found a shot from SM099 which I was planning to use as a:File:SM099.png as soon as I got access to a good quality, logoless version of the episode. I didn't update the picture with the lower quality version because I wanted to update it straight into the good version once I had it, but it seems you updated the picture before I could. I've now uploaded the version I wished to use, although not the best quality possible, since I still don't have access to it yet. I will soon, though. 2) Could you upload a bigger version of a:File:Ultra Guardians medical kit.png? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 09:44, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Actually, since I'm in an endlessly impatient mood right now, could you be so kind as to upload a logoless version of File:SM090.png too? The closer to the current frame the better. I hope you don't mind these requests or that I replaced your version of the picture. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 12:48, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Now, for a different kind of image request. Since you were able to upload new sprites just now, does that mean that you're able to upload images from the Let's Go games? Because I'd like to have the Secret Technique symbols be uploaded at some point too. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 18:20, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

(resetting indent)I don't have access to them myself. I can have someone take a look for them, though. - Chosen of Mana 19:48, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Yeah. I considered that possibility too. I'd greatly appreciate that. Thank you. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 19:52, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
I'm kinda surprised that no one seems to have gotten the idea to upload images of the different Mantine Surf tricks from the latest episode. In case no one else does it before you read this, could you do it? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:45, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Could you upload a better quality image of Luxray SM102.png and Yungoos SM102.png for me please?--BigDocFan (talk) 19:30, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Unless you have any plans on using those images right now, I would be against it. I can't keep continuing to support the many amount of images you upload for the sole purpose of your User: space, considering our policy against personal images. - Chosen of Mana 04:35, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Oranguru's Place

I'm waiting to hear back about User:BigDocFan/Oranguru's_Place being mainspaced, abcboy said he want to check with some other staff on the name for Oranguru's place first. Was wondering if you've heard anything?--BigDocFan (talk) 15:44, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Why'd you get rid of the bad image thing?

a:File:SSBU Pokemon Trainer palette.png I mean, look at #7. Doesn't it suck? It doesn't match with the rest. ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 22:39, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

Mainly an error made while using copy and past liberally. I put it back in. - Chosen of Mana 23:01, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
Okay then. Thanks. ^_^ ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 00:20, 13 November 2018 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you for improving my anime Pokédex entry debut list! --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:18, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

Shouldn't R's page be about the substance in Detective Pikachu?

There's a substance called R in the game Detective Pikachu, and it's a big part of the game's story. When I went to search its article, it redirects me to the Trainer Tower instead. I am definitely not able to write the article myself (I sucked at Language Arts), but I also don't want to leave the page as this redirect. What can I do? ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 16:39, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

Please? I still need help. ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 01:50, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

While I agree that it should probably get its own page, I haven't played Detective Pikachu, myself, so I wouldn't be able to make a page myself. If you make even a basic draft in your User: space (such as, say, User:Unowninator/R), and place {{mainspace}} on the top, other users will be able to edit and contribute to it. If becomes substantial enough, it will be moved to the mainspace. - Chosen of Mana 02:07, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Very well. I made the page with the red link you gave me. I just hope I get enough help with it. Thanks. ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 02:37, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Hey

Was wondering if you could give some feedback on User:BigDocFan/Pikipek_Line_(anime) and it possibly being mainspaced in the future and whether a better name could be given to it.--BigDocFan (talk) 17:48, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

Help

I've made multiple Edits to the archives and I'm still not autoconfirmed. I need to upload LGPE Sprites, so this causes some problems. Thanks for the Help. and I hope you have a nice day!

As stated in the FAQ, the amount of edits needed to be autoconfirmed are kept secret so that users do not purposely only perform this number of edits to become autoconfirmed. - Chosen of Mana 00:17, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Ok, Thank You! Hope you Have a nice Day! - unsigned comment from BrendanC (talkcontribs)

I'm making a website

Hi, Chosen! Over the past few months I have been working on a website that lets users keep track of the Pokémon they have caught throughout the various core Pokémon games that have been released over the years. So far, I've been working on the Gen 1 games and including information such as the various routes that Pokémon are on and the odds that a certain Pokémon appears on a specific Route. My hope is to include checkboxes and a display page for all the user's Pokémon and to show them where the ones that they still need are so that they can complete their Pokédex. As I'm sure you know, much of the information I want to include on my site is available here. My site is not even close to public yet and I want to make sure that I don't plagiarize. I was wondering how I could give proper credit to Bulbapedia, include some parts of my website here, or if thats not possible, stop writing the code :'(. I would greatly appreciate your input!

Dukedude (talk) 01:37, 20 November 2018 (UTC)Dukedude

After consulting with some higher-ups, we determined that it should be okay as long as:
  1. It is a public website not locked behind a paywall.
  2. Bulbapedia is clearly credited. This means that link back to us & note what info came from us.
Thanks for contacting us about this! Good luck! - Chosen of Mana 01:45, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Sign template update

The sign template hasn't been updated for new generations in literal years. Should something be done about it? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:26, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

List of Pokemon by ability

Why are the sections called "Kanto Families", "Johto Families", etc. instead of "Generation I Families", "Generation II Families", etc.? sumwun (talk) 21:17, 23 November 2018 (UTC)

With the reveal of Meltan and Melmetal, I believe your question may have some merit. I'll change it. - Chosen of Mana 21:31, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. sumwun (talk) 05:31, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

Image Requests

Was wondering if you could upload a new image for Laki's Smeargle from SM098. There is a full body solo shot of Smeargle near the start--BigDocFan (talk) 17:36, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

Already taken care of! - Chosen of Mana 17:38, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

Master Trainer list

I was just wondering that would it be okay to also list each Master Trainer's location under their name? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:22, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

Referring to the list you just created under your own userspace/page/whatever the right term is, of course. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:23, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
The moderators are currently deliberating how to present the Master Trainer data. That User: page is just one possible option. We will eventually determine how to indicate their locations, as well. - Chosen of Mana 18:14, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
Okay. I just got a bit too excited upon seeing the list. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 18:27, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

Name Change

Could you change the name of Recurring Eevee.png to Lana Eevee.png please?--BigDocFan (talk) 09:44, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

Vandal returning

The vandal who edited several episode pages yesterday has apparently returned with a new username. He just tried to edit SM102. Can he be blocked again? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 19:18, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

Glik just took care of the vandal. All's fine again. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 19:37, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

Clothing Trunk

You listing the unobtainable itens list just now reminded me of something that I actually noticed even before the Let's Go games were released: the Clothing Trunk in the player's Bag uses the same sprite as the unused Travel Trunk item. Their Japanese names also seem to be the same. I feel like this should be mentioned somewhere. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:29, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Never mind.

Ignore my edit summary on Master Trainer. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:36, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

Updated templates for LGPE

I wrote some code for existing templates, Template:Stats and Template:Pokémon/7 to be updated for LGPE, and left the test results on their respective Discussion pages. Please take a look and let me know what you think. TehPerson (talk) 23:06, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Edit request

Could you edit {{Moveentry/1}} so that the partner Pokémon link leads to "Partner Pokémon (Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!)" instead of "Starter Pokémon"? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:39, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

That isn't part of the template. You should be able to change it by going to the tutor listing and changing the form parameter like I did here. - Chosen of Mana 14:42, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Thank you! --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:56, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
I just found out that Koga has a different overworld sprite in Yellow than he has in Red and Blue. Would you be able to upload said missing overworld sprite? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 19:07, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
I just did a check on all the other Gym Leaders as well, and it seems to me that Sabrina's sprite was also changed in Yellow. Am I right? If I am, could you take care of that too?
Also, something unrelated to sprites: how are we going to add the special spawns in the Let's Go games to the encounter lists? Like what kind of header we use, what encounter rate we use, etc.? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 20:55, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
Okay. I'm sure of it now. Sabrina's overworld sprite was changed between R/B and Yellow. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 11:55, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
I just noticed that in the Generation VI encounter lists, encounters with floor numbers don't have any kind of stair symbol in them. Horde encounters don't have any kind of symbol either. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:39, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

Adding transfer-only moves to Pokedex pages

I don't know if I can word this better myself, so I'm going to quote Nescientist.

Sumwun and I believe that, for the moves, an additional section "By transfer from an earlier generation" would be sensible. (Please refer to User talk:Force Fire#Transfer-only moves and ability changes.) The addition of this subsection would enable users to tell what moves <species> can know (in <game/generation>) at one glance.
It's very well possible even Tiddlywinks is underestimating how difficult it is to answer the "know in <game/generation>" question (as much as I initially did). As Sumwun said at the referenced talk page, currently, you'd have to click at least up to 6 links to learnset pages, assuming you already know by heart how transfer works (and that you can't transfer Pokémon from GO by any means, which is what I actually doublechecked). And additionally, you might have to actually neglect irrelevant sections on learnset pages (for example, in USUM/GenVII, Bulbasaur cannot know AncientPower AFAIK). (If there's a faster method, I'd like to hear it.)
And I can't stress how important I think that question is, for I believe it is the central question to that species and learnset pages should be providing an answer to (the use case). It all boils down to that use case: in Tiddlywinks' words, what's the "concern" species/learnset pages try to address? I can't sketch a question/use case that would include "By events" but not "By transfer from a prior generation". (Well, for USUM, I can sketch the question "What moves can <species> with black clover know?", but that's arguably a "special" case, and probably comp-centric*.) I would like to know what you guys think that use case should be.
Regarding Tiddlywinks' comment about this coming from a "specific focus like comp/challenges", I took some time to think about that. Apart from the fact that I don't think the use case is comp-centric even, it is also not subjective, but purely factual, unlike the questions you said "we're never going to do" (and, by the way, I agree we shouldn't). For example, I recall that I once designed a team for my next playthrough, and I was searching possible moves for them. From context, I can recreate it must've been for XY before ORAS came out, because I wanted my Swinub to have a good Special Ground-type STAB and ended up breeding it in an earlier generation so I could teach it Earth Power via move tutor, then transfered (and traded) it to the new save file. I don't think that I ever was, in any point in time, trying to answer a question where I required all current subsections but not "By transfer from a prior generation".
I would like to know what you guys think that use case should be, and whether you think the suggestion subsection is sensible.

Disagreement with Tiddlywinks

Me and Tiddlywinks have wound in a disagreement regarding the Master Trainers. Can you help? PS. I hope you've not missed my newest posts a couple sections above. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:48, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Special spawns

In the Let's Go games, each location with wild Pokémon has "special spawns" (like Chansey at Mt. Moon and Diglett's Cave, and Charizard and the Legendary birds in the sky), which can be triggered with catch combos, if I'm not mistaken, and I feel that the encounter lists would be incomplete without them. I'm just wondering, how should they be added to the lists? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:27, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

The encounter charts I've been uploading are based on encounter tables ripped from internal data. These data tables, unfortunately, do not take special spawns into account, and are not included. Currently, I do not personally know of any valid sources on special spawn encounters. - Chosen of Mana 17:38, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
I do. And I can always verify them through YouTube videos and such. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 18:01, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
Besides, it's only one special spawn per area, at least on the ground, so it should be pretty easy to verify. It's something that shows up in the area but doesn't appear on the list of regular encounters. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:39, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
