Zero Isle Center (Japanese: ゼロのしま ちゅうおうぶ Zero Isle Center) is a new dungeon introduced in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. It is unlocked after graduating and recycling 150 times at the Spinda's Café Recycle Shop.
Gameplay
Zero Isle Center is effectively a shorter, but more difficult version of the already challenging Zero Isle North. Like there, upon entering, the player is barred from gaining any further experience points and cannot recruit any Pokémon. The Pokémon start off as strong as they were at the end of Zero Isle North, Lv. 90 with 850IQ, and reach Lv. 99 by floor 20, making this dungeon a challenging trek even at Lv. 100.
Additionally, like in Zero Isle East, the player is allowed to bring only 16 items at the start of the dungeon (though the player is allowed to collect more within the dungeon itself); any further items have to be deposited into Kangaskhan Storage before entering, or will be lost forever. Any items obtained within the dungeon are preserved as per usual rules. There are further restrictions that do not apply in any of the other Zero Isles: the player cannot be rescued if knocked out, and traps remain invisible until walked on. Being a dungeon introduced in Explorers of Sky, it also contains the Grudge and Random Traps.
The amount of starting enemies starts off higher than any dungeon in Explorers of Time and Darkness and eventually surpasses all dungeons present in Explorers of Sky. Specifically:
- 5-9 on floors 1 through 7
- 6-11 on floors 8 through 24
- 6-12 on floors 24 through 49
There's 4-7 items on floors 1 through 10, 3-6 on floors 11 through 20 and 2-5 on later floors. There's also 2-5 items buried in the walls, though they're all Poké. However, items spawn sticky 8% of the time, and there are no Reviver Seeds outside of those the player brings in.
Reflecting the sheer strength of the dungeon's Pokémon, all missions past first floor are ranked either ★8 or ★9, with all missions past floor 6 being all ★9 regardless of the type. The turn limit before the player is thrown out of the dungeon is 2000 turns, twice the limit present in most other dungeons. The IQ Booster will activate on every floor.
All floors are large-sized, with the following amount of rooms:
- 3-8 on floors 1, 9, 12, 22, 23, 34 and 35
- 3-9 on floors 2, 5, 10, 11, 13, 42 and 47
- 3-10 on floors 3, 6, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 28, 30, 32, 37, 38, 41, 43, 46 and 48
- 3-11 on floors 7, 15, 29, 44 and 49
- 3-12 on floors 4, 8, 16, 24, 27, 33, 36, 39 and 45
- 3-14 on floors 31 and 40
Floors 1 through 7 have water on them. There is heavy darkness in the dungeon. There is random weather on floors 15, 21, 24 and 28.
Unlike other Zero Isles, there are no rare items to be found lying on the ground, only in Kecleon Shops. There are also no Treasure Chambers to unlock with Keys.
The last floor contains four Deluxe Boxes, each holding an Exclusive item for the team's leader, along with a Warp Zone taking the player out of the dungeon.
Exclusive to this dungeon are Monster Houses that contain nothing but money. However, on some floors there is a chance that the Monster House will not have any items at all: 33% on floors 4, 13, 19, 36 and 39, and 22% on floor 26.
Pokémon encountered
Each time player enters floors 1 through 7, 14 through 20, 23 through 25, 28 through 30, 33 through 35, 38 through 40 and 43 through 45, only 14 of the following species that can be found on the given floor will be chosen. The unpicked Pokémon's spawn rate will be added to whichever picked Pokémon is next in the National Dex order, going back to the beginning if needed.
