• No other Pokémon has the same type combination as Komatana and its evolution.

Origin

Its color scheme, metal typing, and humanoid may be a reference to Metal Man, a Robot Master from the second installment of the Mega Man Classic Series. It also looks similar to a knight and may be based on Arthurian Legends of black knights.

Name origin

Its name is likely a combination of 小股　Komata, short steps, and　刀 Katana, sword.
